This is a fun item. I bought 3, one for me and 2 for grandkids. We all enjoyed our painting on our little easel with water, watching them dry and doing another. BUT after less than a week of use mine has a permanent image that did not go away when dry (only used water to paint). So the whole purpose is defeated. I really like this concept and I enjoy painting with the water. Most of the problems I found are very minimal and I don't mind at all. The brush is of medium quality and the fine strands will only come out of you pull on or be otherwise rough with them. The external parts of the board easily collect fingerprints and should be wiped often. The instructional booklet recommends using a glass of water or the reservoir that comes built-in. I tried using the reeservoir and not only is it hard to dry out afterwards, overall its just not as easy as using a simple glass. ... show more

I used to work in a gift store that sold these. I never bought one because they were so expensive. But, as I'm now studying Japanese, I got it as a very easy way to practice writing kanji with a brush. From my gift store experience, I know that these do not last forever. Over time it gets worse and worse, where it takes forever for the image to disappear, and also parts of the board stop turning dark when you wet them, so you get broken lines that stay around for a long time, meaning you have to wait before you can use the board again. For the product to have such a short life span and to be made of such cheap materials, it should be a third of its price. But, it's a little fun if you want something mindless, and for me practicing kanji, it saves space, mess, and the cost of paper, brush, and ink. This product is perfect for my meditation corner. It's small enough to not take up too much space, but still big enough to imprint your emotions onto the fabric. The brush that came with mine was rock solid so I needed to replace that, but that was my only down side. I use a separate water bowl instead of using the built in basin. This was just my preference because I think that I would make too much of a mess of it. This folds up into a neat, tiny square that can be stored away with ease. I keep mine out always. I purchased this particular product because it is the name brand original version of Buddha Board. The packaging is nice, in a fitted box. The product has a nice weight to it. The only downside is that when they say, “mini” it is mini. Make sure to measure this out prior to purchasing so you don’t have to do a return if you feel it is too small. This is the perfect size for a desk, but might be too small if you are wanting it to practice art on a more professional level. ... show more

I bought this to practice my Japanese writing and I have to say it works great! I really love the traditional Japanese ink styling that the brush makes on the board. The one issue I have with this is that the side of my board is poorly cut so it looks a little dingy. Other than that, it's a great product! Also I should note that the mini water trough for the mini budda board is too small for my clumsy self to add water without saturating the board; I feel like I would need to use an eyedropper to add water safely. However I don't consider this a fault considering that this is a mini version intended for travel and I can just have a bowl or cup of water next to me when I settle down for some writing practice. I have the full-size one as a gift and it is a hit. I have 2 of the "mini" in my classroom for fast-finishers or for quiet creative time. It's a great item for the kids who would rather draw then say build with blocks. You can draw with nothing in mind and it is relaxing/fun. You can also draw a planned picture and it is fun. It is smaller than I expected however.. I like it more this way. So easy to pack in my work bag or purse. A little splash of water and let the calming meditation begin. Mindful breathing is a favorite. I no longer waster paper or scrap paper. The Buddha board can be used over and over. It is quality plastic and works like in the video.
