    • No way to secure a tight fit on NMO mount making theft easy
Although this VHF antenna performs very well, the reason I give it a 1 star rating is because it lacks a fastening design at the bottom where you can tighten it with a wrench like other NMO antennas making theft of the antenna much more difficult. It’s a shame that this antenna is only a screw on antenna where you can only make it hand tight. I think the designers at a Browning made a huge mistake on this one and to make things even worse, they designed the antenna to where the coil section of the antenna simply screws off and screws on with the whip attached. Are you serious Browning? So even if the very lower part of the antenna that attaches to the NMO mount had a way to fasten with a wrench, the coil and whip simply takes a thief to screw it right off very easily. This is very troubling for me. I will keep the antenna because it performs very well but I will cross my fingers and hope a desperate thief doesn’t come along and simply unscrews the whole antenna without any resistance designed into this model whatsoever. If the people at Browning or whoever makes this antenna are listening, please redesign this antenna so that the whip and coil are permanently attached to the base of the antenna and add a nut or bolt design at the very bottom of the antenna so that it can be fastened tight with a wrench to the NMO mount to discourage possible thieves without tools. I don’t know if I would ever buy this antenna again in the future if they don’t make the changes I stated above. In the meantime, I can’t recommend this Browning VHF antenna to anyone as their are better more secure designed NMO antennas out there. ... show more
