The 60 sharp tine tips perforates the soil over 2″ deep so seed, fertilizer, and water reach your lawn’s root system. This premium push aerator comes with 5 stars constructed in galvanized steel, and Brinly's patent-pending 3D star design has been tested to improve star strength by 2X (ensuring durability even in compacted soil!) A rigid weight tray provides a stable platform for additional weight, maximizing penetration in hard soil. • JUNK, POOR QC, Manufacture
JUNK. Poor manufacture QC. I'd hoped this was the one. Waited for a month for it to be back in stock. Assembly was easy until getting to the handles. The middle handles do not fit passively with the lower handle and upper handles do not fit passively with the middle handles. They cannot be jammed "to fit". This is NOT a Morse Taper problem. Its sloppy manufacture and QC. Technical service "Steve" is totally inept, "we've never heard that before, we'll send you replacements". So, before you send the replacements will confirm they fit passively? "That's not possible". I got the replacement set. Same problem. Inside diameters/outside diameters, paint overspray and flaring on the ends do not allow a passive fit and they cannot be jammed "to fit". If you want another "DIY project" you could file the interiors and wire brush strip the paint from the exteriors and maybe they'd go to place. If not, split the tubing and squeeze it to decrease the diameter. Way more than I was willing to do based on the wait time, multiple calls to technical support "Steve". ... show more

  • Brinly 18” Aerator: Smooth on Flat Ground, But Needs Tweaks for Slopes and Turns
The media could not be loaded. I bought this aerator to relieve the heavily compacted soil in my yard. My husband and son (a professional landscaper) put it together, used it, and provided this review. Overall, they said that the Brinly 18” Premium Push Spike Aerator had the following pros: • It was easy to assemble • Instructions were clear • The materials are high-end and durable • The aerator can be adjusted to fit the user’s height and comfort • You can add custom weight to adjust the depth of aeration in the yard • It’s perfect for level or slight inclines • The aerator feels smooth when operating it. The guys also had some issues when operating the Brinly aerator. These cons included • The aerator doesn’t handle well on slopes • The homeowner needs to provide weight for the aerator • It doesn’t turn easily (a lot of backing up and changing directions) • It doesn’t handle well on undulated lawns; it does better on a level lawn • The center bar running through the tines was too short to fit both “O” rings • The main body should be metal and not plastic. ... show more

  • No more renting
I was getting tired of paying for a rental one all seasons, so decided to buy my own one, not a professional but at least it gets the job done.

  • May be good for Very Very small yard?
This was very very small. Difficult to assemble and not great quality. It was returned.

  • All-around a great tool
I think this is a super handy tool - doesn't take up much garage space and helps keep the lawn healthy. I have only two minor concerns, and I'm pretty sure they're due to the way I keep my grass (which is long, as high as the mower deck will let it go - thanks, Allyn Hane!). Mostly I find that it's hard to push and turn the aerator. Difficulty pushing is troubling only because I would be less willing to use the tool in the future if it's a really tough task. I found it's much easier to pull it through my grass, but I'm also quite sure the aerator then isn't driving the spikes into the ground like it should. Turning isn't bad if it's a wide turn, I tip it back onto the wheels, and I am pushing the entire time. I can't stop, tilt it back, and turn to make the next track in the lawn. If I do, the wheels catch in the long grass and it worryingly bends the plastic frame. I don't want to snap it, so I started turning while maintaining momentum. All in all I, again, think it's awesome. Not the same as a plug aerator, but helps and costs about what it would be to rent a plug aerator once, maybe twice. Next time I use it (in the spring), I'll try cutting the grass shorter. I think it'll work just fine! I'll do my best to remember to come back here and update, if I can. ... show more

  • Tough to Assemble, Even Tougher to Use
This thing was incredibly hard to assemble and use.

  • Terrible, just awful
Cheap, assembled it and through bolts wouldn’t line up and drilled inaccurately in manufacturing. Spacers on the end wouldn’t fit. Tines are sharp but it’s a terrible design and I wish I spent my money elsewhere. Would return but already used and don’t feel like cleaning and disassembling again so I’ll just take the hit. Unless your lawn is completely flat and rock free, get something better ... show more

  • Not bad
Assembling it was okay. It wasn't super easy but was self explanatory. There was a few times i had to put some mustard into it. Overall it was not a bad experience, not a bad design, as long as it gets the job done!
