  • Easy to install, looks great!
Just installed these on my 2018 Highlander Limited Platinum. They are sturdy, fit great and were very easy to install. I had a plastic trim removal tool from a previous project, which made removing the trim covers relatively easy. As others have said, make sure you size them across the vehicle before tightening the black hex screws (located on the underside of the bars. I actually put the bars on and finger tightened the mounting bolts into the vehicle to make sure the length was correct, lightly tightened the hex screws with an allen wrench, and then removed the bars to fully tighten the hex screws. I then re-installed the bars, tightened the bolts down to the vehicle using the supplied wrench until just tight, and then used a torque wrench to get the 8 N-m torque. The 4 covers went on easily, and you heard a distinct "click" when they were mounted properly. I have not heard any wind noise at speeds up to 60 mph. I think they make my new Highlander much more "sporty" and less of a family vehicle. I'd highly recommend these crossbars. ... show more

  • Absolutely great OEM-like part!
I bought this roof rack for my 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE. It came with alot of dealer installed extras (it was the eye-catcher floor model), so I decided to not have them add on little things that weren't game-breakers, but I still wanted them. I've bought and installed a bunch if aftermarket items like internal LED floor lighting, leather inserts for the wheel and cupholders, and a vinyl protector for the back of the third row seats to protect the leather. Saved me hundreds of dollars off the sticker price. My last two vehicles were SUVs with roof racks which I utilized quite a bit, so I wanted them for my HL as well. The dealer, of course, was willing to sell me OEM racks for about $450. No thank you. After much research, I settled on these roof racks. Been on my HL for about a week now, and I have no complaints. They are an almost graphite gray color, so they blend with the chrome silver and rest of the car's color scheme (not perfect match of course), but I know that the finish won't scratch off with use. They feel very solid, so I can imagine that they are capable of holding a couple hundred pounds if necessary. I drive 80 miles round trip each day to and from work. With the windows down or up, moonroof opened or closed, A/C on or off, I've heard no sounds of drag or poor airflow around them. I also love that they give such a nice (again, floormodel) vehicle a much more rugged look to it. I was surprised that such a simple addon made such a difference in its exterior appeal. My only issue with installation was that little things weren't addressed in the hardcopy or video instructions. For example, the metal gaskets that sit within the bolts' housing do not stay threaded. Once you lift either rack up out of the box and the bolt housing falls loose with gravity, its weight will pull the gasket right off the bolt threads. I just kept one of the bolt assemblies off until I connect one side properly. I had to do a round-robin to fully tighten each side, but it was better than looking underneath my car for the other side's gasket after it fell out. Also, the included allen wrench is of poor quality, so you should use a proper one from your own toolbox to prevent stripping the screwheads which allow each rack to expand or contract. In any case, very minor issues which were easily overcome - installed in under an hour. Save yourself money at the dealership and put these off racks in yourself. Well worth the low cost and a little time. ... show more

  • PERFECT!!
Love these silver crossbars for our 2017 Toyota Highlander Limited. Our car is pearl white with all silver accents. Crossbars from Toyota are only offered in black, and that would not do for our white car. I was so happy to find these on Amazon, and I received them in perfect condition two days after ordering. My husband said instructions were good, installation was easy, the fit is solid, and the bars are sturdy; same quality as the black ones we purchased from the Toyota dealership for our black 2014 Highlander. We have traveled with a luggage carrier attached, and we also just returned from a 2K mile trip with no luggage carrier attached. We drove speeds of 80-85 mph on open highway with no wind noise whatsoever from the empty bars. These crossbars look fabulous and function perfectly. We are extremely pleased and are so glad to have found them. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • 2016 Highlander XLE Crossbars from Brightlines
The dealership price is more than 2X the price and they also don't come in silver. The matching trim with my 2016 Highlander XLE looks great. Installation was easy, thanks to the Amazon reviewers. It took me just under 20minutes to install. Reminder: there is an Allen wrench that came with the crossbars and they are for adjusting the length of the crossbars that are located under the driver side limb. It also comes with a socket wrench for the obvious bolt that you screw in. The reviewers were also correct in pointing out that the instructions could use some re-working. The mounting bolts calls for 8 Nm torque setting. I work on bikes a lot, and 8 Nm feels like a snug fit then add 1/2 turn. Good product. ... show more
