  • feel so lucky to have this!
At the risk of sounding a bit sappy, I feel so fortunate to be able to own one of these supreme units and to buy from such a great, friendly seller. I had a couple of questions about the pump function (new brewer here) and the customer service is just fantastic. There are YouTube videos I watched to clarify the process, but setting up and running the Mash&Boil ended up being much simpler and more straightforward than I'd thought. I'd (separately) purchased the Turbo 500 distillation column and an alternate stainless steel lid (with opening) to do some distillation with this unit, as I understood the Mash&Boil fit these products (it does) and that it was a better boiler than the one sold with the Turbo 500 boiler (I believe it, although the Turbo 500 distillation column is supposed to be one of the best). Suffice to say, the Mash & Boil is a first-class, solid hunk of stainless glory, complete with easy-to-read digital screen. It's made beautifully, functions smoothly, and is just the right size for a compact space (not too big, not too small). Enjoy, Giddy New Owner/ Brewer/ Distiller ... show more

  • Great brew kettle. No longer dependent on propane. This thing rocks!
First batch of beer and I love the ease of use and ease of cleanup. No propane to deal with. Was able to brew in my home for a change. Temp gauge is accurate. Pump works good. You need to use a hop basket or you will burn on bottom. We will see how long the pump works. Gonna be hard to clean if you get hops in pump. Other than that I highly recommend this brew kettle. Price is good under 300. ... show more

  • Great unit, great customer service
After doing some research I chose this unit because of the price point and the reviews. Having brewed one batch so far I really like it, it's dead simple to use. The pump works great with my counter flow wort chiller. The only thing I'm but completely satusfied with us the temperature is often quite a few degrees off, but it's consistent so getting it to the right temperature is easy if you have a separate thermometer. This is the only flaw, but given the price it's understandable. Also the customer service is absolutely amazing, my unit arrived with the pump tubing not properly secured, but only an email to the manufacturer later and I had a new unit shipped to me at no cost, which was very unexpected and very much appreciated(thanks Bill!). ... show more

  • Not too shabby.
I have brewed a couple of batches with this device and I am really happy with it overall. I'll start with the one bad thing I've experienced so far: the two spot welds that hold the recirculation pipe on to the kettle near the top both broke off before I finished my second brew session. That's why I'm giving this four stars instead of five. I haven't been abusive, and a good weld should be at least as strong as the metal it joins. It was just not a good weld, and now I have to fix it. Stuff shouldn't be coming loose the second time I use it, and I hope that it isn't foreshadowing. Now, a few neutral things. First, mashes get stuck very easy -- probably because the grain bed is very tall, inside the "malt pipe" basket. Aside from super slow lautering, this is kind of a problem when recirculating the mash because it is super hard to avoid running the pump dry when all the wort gets stuck above the grain bed and barely trickles through. Thankfully, rice hulls in the mash are an easy fix, but you have to use them with pretty much every single batch. So, not really bad, but different. The other thing is that the mash doesn't hold a set temperature; it varies as the mash cools a few degrees, then the heating element kicks on and heats it back up. I don't think this really matters as long as you're aware of it, and aren't trying to do rests right on the edge of a temperature range. Now, some things I like! I like that it is electric, and has a delay timer, because I feel far safer walking away from it than I would if I were brewing on my stove or the propane burner. That is an advantage when you're trying to fit a brew day in around work, sleep, etc. It is nice to have a boil kettle and mash tun in one. It saves space. It is pretty easy to clean, and the pump makes it even easier. No lifting and dumping out a kettle full of PBW solution, just pump it out. It looks cool which is actually more important than it sounds; along with the space-saving part, I really appreciate that there is less weird homebrewing gear strewn about my place on brew day. And, one more thing I appreciate that surprised me: the whole system is a lot lighter than it looks. That, combined with the handles on this model, make it pretty easy to haul in and out of storage. Overall, I am really satisfied with my purchase...as long as nothing else breaks off. ... show more

  • Arrived in excellent condition (good packing) & Worked Flawlessly
Great piece of equipment at a great price. Update 2024: This is great for brewing. I used to use the stove and a large pot, but I was relegated to the kitchen. With this I am able to brew on my back patio and I don't have to baby sit as much. It also gave me ability to mash with good extraction due to the recirculating pump and the temperature regulation is better than on "Brew In a Bag" on the stove. It makes brewing easier and more fun. It does require recirculating cleaning with water, but it is only more work than the regular cleanup. I have used this on many batches and it still works great. ... show more

  • Excellent small electric AG system
I got tired of always lugging my cooler mash system (w/ propane) in and out of my basement, and even more tired of being beholden to weather for a brew day. This is a great solution for the days I just want to brew good beer inside. The system is efficient and idiot proof. It does have heat loss issues, especially during mash. To fix that I wrap it in Reflectix insulation and it's made a world of difference. Two beers in and I am very happy with the quality of the beer. However, I highly recommend also using a hop spider for cleaner transfers. That will also allow you to use the pump for whirlpooling, if you so desire. If you tried that without a spider you would clog the pump most likely. Five stars for now. ... show more

  • Great for all grain brewing
Very easy to use, instructions are clear. Easy to clean. Maybe for a future upgrade if it was Bluetooth enable it would be much easier to monitor
