As a strength and condition coach and certified athletic trainer, my clients and athlete’s are required to have a daily soft tissue practice that includes self-myofascial release on a quality foam roller. It is an important component of our programming in order to maintain, and improve soft tissue quality as it relates to recovery, hypertrophy, and successful training practices. These daily routines utilizing a foam roller become integral to the point where many people have several choices of foam rollers that they keep in their homes and use at their workout facilities. However, they are awkward to travel with. This has become an issue with many of my clients because they rely on soft tissue release and trigger point management especially when subjected to a great deal of airline travel. This roller solves not only the travel issue, but also allows easy storage in an office, automobile, backpack, or any room in the home. It collapses flat to 1.5” thick!! It is very light, but very durable. It will support up to 350 lbs. You pull on the end strings and it locks into a full functioning foam roller. A quick press on each end of the cylinder sends the roller back into it’s flat state. Brilliant!! As I also alluded to in the title, you are not settling for an inferiorly designed foam roller because of it portability. This is literally one of the more effective foam rollers I have used. Its size is perfect and the textured nubs on the exterior seem to be just the right amount of hardness and irregularity to get into most problem areas of the body. This is not a travel version of your traditional (soft) foam roller. This is a travel version of the TriggerPoint GRID Roller. I'm a long distance runner and I basically travel with my TriggerPoint. It is highly inconvenient! It rolls out of the trunk of my car and it's especially inconvenient if I'm taking an airline flight. Sure it fits in a suitcase, but it takes up a lot of room. This is the only product on the market that replaces this. I'm sure if TriggerPoint is smart they will be coming up with a similar product, but in the meantime this IS the product to get. I see a couple of reviews that this roller is too hard, which is true to your more traditional roller, but I like the firmness that is similar to my TriggerPoint. In fact, soft rollers don't really get those hard muscle knots in my legs and back. I have just purchased this roller, what I can't say is if it is sturdy enough in the long run (pun intended). I used to travel quite a bit (pre-COVID) and bought this about 2 years ago when I was wishing I could take my regular foam roller with me everywhere I went. And Presto! Just by a random search I found this collapsible version and bought it right away. I waited a few trips before giving a review and I can say it's a very good product. It collapses down and pops up for use easily and its very strong. My regular foam roller veers a bit to one direction when I roll (maybe I'm the one who's crooked) and this roller does too a bit but I'm not worried about it. It's mostly a godsend and I'm happy to have it in my luggage ready to go when I need it. ... show more

I weigh 250 lbs and this supports my weight just fine. It works well, especially adjusting my vertebrae working out the knots in my back and shoulder muscles. Beware: if you are heavy like me your weight will press down on the roller and the dimples/crevices can leave pressure marks on your skin that remain for a few days (my wife asked what happened to my back; I told her that I believed she was beating my in my sleep). It's a great device, and it collapses really well for travel (it will fit great in a travel'carry on bag) so you don't have an excuse for not taking it if you need relief I'm quite satisfied with the purchase, and it is a quality product. ... show more

I LOVE THIS FOAM ROLLER!!! I am a neat freak at home and I travel a lot for work, so this is perfect for me. I can tuck it away in plain sight at home and pull it out daily. Best part is my kids don't know where it is so they can't find it and use it as a toy (or weapon of home destruction). I travel quite a bit for work and I try to workout when gone, and if I do not use my roller travel back is no bueno. This tucks into my bag without taking up enough room to even notice. I like that is collapses into a small size and can be brought back to normal size easily. Rolling on it is bumpy, so don't expect a smooth roll like a traditional foam roller. This does cause me to get bruising on my back when I roll. It's almost like it pinches the skin between each segment of the roller. ... show more

This is the best foam roller I’ve ever used! It’s compact and convenient for travel! I like to take it with us when we go on road trips, and long flights especially! My wife and I each have one, and we both absolutely love the quality and craftsmanship of the product! The comment above that it hurts made me laugh out loud! It’s a foam roller meant for myofascial release! It’s not meant to feel like a massage! The after effects can definitely be considered equal to a massage, however! It’s my new best friend. I’ve taken it on kayak trips, backpacking a.t. and road trips. Having L4 and L5 disc, sciatica pain and lower back problems. This help and saved my back multiple times. I ended up getting the alpha roller, but I don’t think I would suggest it to anyone if you never used a foam roller or can’t handle an aggressive roller due to severe pain. The alpha has more of an aggressive pattern, close to a deep tissue massage. It’s lightweight, packs small and definitely easy to travel with. If I know I’m driving more than a couple of hours, it’s with me. I love it. Definitely recommend it. Little pricey, but priceless, due to the compact, easy to take anywhere roller. ... show more
