    • Great replacement for an old hood

We got this to replace an old range hood that came with the house, I was wanting something that had much better suction and provided an easier to clean surface and decent lighting. We got this unit to try and so far it has worked well, with a few hiccups. My husband had a bit of a time getting this mounted under the cabinets over our stove where the old one was. He didn't like that all four corners didn't have the cutout to raise and lock it before tightening the screws, you can only do two corners and the other two have fixed screws. Its also fairly heavy so its not a one man job, I had to help hold it in place as he secured the first two screws. As for operation, it works good, the suction power is great and what I really was wanting most. The four LED lights are good but each is not that bright, but together they do a good job, much better than the old single bulb I was using. The vent grates are designed to catch oil and come out easy and can be cleaned in the washer, looking forward to see how well that works; should make it much easier though. The fan noise is fairly loud but given the high speed of maximum suction I would say they are lower than if my old unit was operating at the same level. At low speeds the fans are fairly quit and I can hear someone speak to my while I am cooking, which previously was not that easy. As a range hood overall it does the core things it needs well, and that I do recommend. The clock only shows military time, which is not bad, just not something I am use to seeing and have been getting use to. Some of the add-on features are not real great, you can use voice commands but our experience with it was less reliable and more hassle, so we just do it manually instead of trying and ask it to. I have tried using some of the gestures it offers but its just not something I am use to doing so I don't think to use them honestly, and so far they work pretty good; I think I just need to remember to use more often. Overall as a range hood it this is a good model but I think they tried to do maybe too much on the smart side, but I can't really complain and would still recommend it. ... show more

My range hood was ancient, loud, and filthy. I was really excited to get this installed. My husband and I did it together, it will take 2 people, one to help hold it in place. My husband has plenty of tools, screws, etc and is pretty handy. He swapped everything with stuff that he had on hand and wanted to use. It wasn't difficult for him, I just assisted. The suction is awesome, and so much quieter than my old hood fan. The voice controls are a bit finicky and I don't really use them. I like the gesture controls when my hands are dirty. And I really love the dimmable light feature. It uses 24 hour time on the clock which isn't an issue for us because that's what we use on all of our devices anyway. ... show more
