Every now and then I go back to see if something I brought is still being sold. I brought this July 2009, and now it's March 2019. And it's still perfect. Not a dent. Not a piece of the black plastic around the door has fallen or even faded. The stainless steel is as shiny now as my much younger range and dishwasher. Right now, it's holding a load of white homemade bread, hamburger buns and English muffins. The bread is a week old and still seems to be holding a bit of it's original just baked smell. On top of it are my condiments, sugar bowl, toothpicks, and my butterkeeperm meaning I lost zero counterspace. So I'm a happy camper. ... show more

I never raved about a simple bread box before, until now! Bread boxes are usually plain-Jane looking, or take up space with a curved slide-top, that hardly fits a loaf of bread, but this box changed my kitchen! It also saves us a LOT of money and wasted time going back and forth for fresh rolls. We LOVE bread in my house-bagels, fresh rolls that you buy individually for $.65 each, that are usually only good until the next morning, english muffins, white bread. Usually, the bread is moldy or rock hard within a week. After starting to use this bread box, we hardly waste any bread at all! It keeps everything so soft, fresh, and tasty for a long time. I was shocked when a fresh bread roll was still soft and delicious 3 days after my husband bought them with fresh cold cuts. Life (bread) saver! Now, onto the way it looks. I love sleek, "chic Marilyn Monroe-type" items for my home, and this fits it. The last thing I wanted was an unsightly wooden bread box. Honestly, bread boxes always grossed me out because they didn't seem easy to clean being that they were wood. This box is so easy to clean, and it is so sleek and chic with the mirrored finish! It matches my style to the 'T'! Now, onto the storage space! This box fits so much! I will post pictures of everything we have in ours at once! Also, it gives me room to place decorative pieces for my kitchen on top of the box, since it is a rectangle with a flat top, and not rounded. Love it so much! It also makes my kitchen look less cluttered by hiding all of those bread items so neatly, instead of having ziplocks of bagels and rolls, on top of a bag of white bread and english muffins.     • Not the red color expected; cost more to return that it cost in the first place

This bread box is nicely designed and seems pretty well-made, though as some others have said, it's metal is more lightweight than one might expect. What was also not as expected is the red color; it's slightly red-orange rather than straight red. It has an orangish cast that's enough to make it clash with a red Kitchen Aid mixer and a few other red items in my kitchen which are true red. That's quite disappointing, and unexpected. I'm returning it (there's also a very slight dent in one corner, not reall obvious, but there).The return will be a hassle, given that it has to go back to the UK, and despite amazon's statement about it's US return policy applying, you apparently have to pay part of the return shipping yourself. ADDENDUM: I've changed this to two stars. BEWARE if you order one of these and you need to return it. Long story short, amazon is NOT standing behind it's return policy to the UK, which they say is the same as in the U.S. it's not. To send this back to the UK from where I live in the U.S. will cost $76.10, cheapest method. Obviously, that's more than I paid for the bread box plus the original shipping. I just spent more than an hour on the phone with amazon customer service trying to sort this out, in the end to no avail. So they're screwing me over: I spent $72 on a bread box I can't use and on which it will actually cost me $4 and change more than I paid in order to send it back. ... show more

My wife bakes bread and bagels often, so we were looking forward to using a real bread box to keep the baked goods fresh longer. Product is quite large and looks decent, except for the dent in the top that came with it. Extremely thin, flimsy metal. Feels very, very cheap. Door is slightly askew when open but straightens up when closed. Surprised by the number of high ratings. This thing came triple boxed, yes THREE! BOXES, and it was still dented on top. I can only assume it was that way when it left the factory. The packaging is serious overkill and a ridiculous waste of resources. Guess we'll keep looking. This one is going back. Actually, Amazon said don't bother returning it, they'll just refund my money. Odd. ... show more

There is nothing about this that is special- it’s just a shiny storage container. The people who claim this helps bread last longer are buying wonder bread that never goes bad anyway. I make homemade bread from scratch with no preservatives and it goes bad in 3-4 days in the box just as it does on the counter. There is no insulation- air tight fittings or anything to this box . It’s simply a large shiny box to hold your stuff to make the counter look neater . There isn’t anything wrong with the box but it’s a simple cheap - cheap looking and cheaply made product that is way over priced for what it is . 25$ would be a fair price for it. ... show more

Purchased this bread box for a different use than storing bread. My wife got tired of all the clutter on the bathroom counter, i.e. makeup, lotions, deodorants, toothpaste, etc., so she decided to use this to hide everything but still make them easily accessible. She used a plastic cosmetic tray, placed felt pads on the bottom so it would slide easily, and put it in the bread box. This particular bread box is simple, sleek, and opens from the front to allow easy access to the tray. It is well made and attractive.
