  • Real copper, accurate thicknesses, reasonably flat and smooth
Good deal on an assortment. I was wary of getting copper-colored aluminum as many cheaper heatsink products are made. These pass all my tests for being actual solid copper (testing stone, metal resistivity tester, ultrasonic thickness gauge). The thicknesses were also all spot-on. I had to smooth one face of each due to how they are cut. There is a very slight lip on the edge. Overall they are reasonably flat and even.   • What a clever idea!
These little copper plates will definately come in handy for the many ad hoc heatsink projects around the lab here. Work great, seems to be pure copper. Nice value!

Too small to fit on VRAM chips, rough edges, surface not smooth. Basically just scrap metal in a bag.

  • Good variety of shims
I was having trouble with the clamping force of one of my older laptop's CPU and GPU, resulting in poor distribution and air pockets in the thermal interface material (thermal paste) and higher idle temperatures. Using one of the thinner shims, I was able to ensure better clamping and better distribution of the TIM and immediately saw a 3C improvement in idle temp and 5C improvement under heavy load. Unless you lap the shim (create a flawless mirror finish) on the side that is making contact with the CPU die, you should put a thin later of TIM on both sides of the shim. You'll want to be incredibly careful that the shim does not make any sort of contact with underlying circuitry on your board. I cut up pieces of electrical tape and placed it over circuitry that the shim overhung, to be doubly certain. Only knocking off a star because they are a little pricey for what they are. ... show more

These copper pads did the job. My GPU and CPU were getting too hot and after installing them I have not had any more issues.
