  • Improved the sound of my system.
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
I installed these CH6530's in my 2004 Scion XB. It did not have the original factory speakers or audio system. These were purchased to replace a defective "Planet Audio" speaker which was failing due to deterioration of the rubber around the cone and general aging of the speaker. These were installed in the front doors. I also purchased a set of Boss CH4220 for the dashboard speakers as a replacement for some unusual Planet Audio tweeters which seemed to add nothing to the sound quality of the system. The sound is much "cleaner" now and I like the performance more than the previous setup. The speakers are powered by a Boss 250W per channel amp. I play it loud but not "blasting". There is a Planet Audio head unit. All items mentioned (except previous sprakers) have been purchased on Amazon. The door speakers installed well as they were the same size as the existing speakers. An aftermarket "adapter ring" has been installed in the car to replace the OEM mount so instalation went very well. It is unclear as to whether or not these would have installed in the OEM mount which uses 3 mounting screws, but the size is the same as OEM speakers and the Boss speakers have several different possible mounting hole configurations. The output volume was a bit lower in the Boss speakers but was easily compensated for by turning up the gain on the amp. The new dashboard speakers also helped a lot. The 4" Ch4220's were mounted in my dashboard. The factory speakers mounted by 2 tabs right and left. The New Boss speakers have mounting tabs that lined up with the existing holes. However it was necessary to bend down the tab that is closest to the windshield. It is easy to make this adjustment. I also bent the 2 side mounts slightly upward to allow the speaker to sit slightly lower in the dash. That us all that was needed. A final modification that I made was to make some changes to an Audio (midrange/treble) crossover that exists in the system. The previous door speakes were connected to midrange output and the dashboard tweeters to the treble output. Since the new dashboard speakers are "2 ways" I connected them to the midrange, (previously used by the door speakers). (There was essentially no real sound when connected to the treble.) (There was very little with the original tweeters either.) Now I get a good range sound from the dashboard speakers. The door speakers are now connected directly to the amp output (crossover input) which improves the bass response in the door speakers. Again, I like the overall sound better than what I had before. Keep in mind that everyone has a somewhat different idea of what sounds "best" to them, and there are many variables in equipment they will be connected to. I feel that these speakers are inexpensive, yet they produced a better overall sound system than what I had previously IMHO. They seem well made but the wiring supplied seems a bit thin. I cut and spliced to the original wiring so I would have the proper fittings to connect to the speakers. They are 2 different sizes so they cant be installed in reverse polarity. MAKE CERTAIN as to which wire is positive and negative, when you hook up (or splice) your wires. You will loose bass response if they are hooked up in reverse polarity and it could damage the speaker as well. I didnt need the supplied speaker covers as they are covered by existibng OEM covers in the car. Nevertheless the speakers ARE attractive and would look nice with the supplied covers but they lack protection from objects that might damage the speaker cone. Its not fragile however. In closing,:I hope this helps your decision. Im sure that you can get better sound and quality by spending a lot more money, but these seem very adaquate for price and on that basis I would recommend them as a low cost /decent performance option if you need speakers for your car. ... show more

  • Simple installation, sound great
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
Wow, just installed these on my 01 silverado 1500 and it was a perfect fit to replace the stock/ other speakers. Mine does have front door mini tweeters and I just removed those. They sound great!

  • Just the fix for a blown boombox
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
Probably not the kind of use case you are looking for with these, but they worked well in this thrift store boombox pick up with blown speakers. Sound quality is ok. For the cost they are pretty good, and with a bit of EQ you can get some decent bass out of them. Really like the red too, they fit in well with this particular boombox. ... show more

  • Good sound for your money. But…
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
These speakers are smaller than I expected them to be. They are smaller than the stock speakers, and smaller than other speakers in their category. That said, let me review them. These speakers have decent sound. A little tinny on the high end, and as expected from a 6.5” speaker, very little bass. However, they do appear to be well made wider cones, they sound better than stock when the levels are set appropriately, and you cannot beat the price. I probably wouldn’t buy these again, choosing to watch sales and buy a better set when the prices drop. If you are in a pinch, and need something cheap to put in the doors to sell a car, or replace blown stock speakers, these will do the job. ... show more

  • They sound amazing for a low cost 3-way and look great!
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
I got bored and decided to make a boombox out of cardboard, these speakers and a cheap head unit which actually turned out to be pretty nice pair. My only gripe is that they don't stay in place with our screwing them in. (Kidding of course) The color pops but if you don't like it, use the included grills/covers which are black. The cones will last and for the cost, you can't beat this 3-way speaker unless Radio Shack came back and even then, probably not. ... show more

  • Good sound quality
Style: 6.5" Red, 3-Way
For the price, they are pretty good speakers. They seem to be a tad smaller than typical 6.5 inch speakers but still fit into the door card and chassis well enough.
