  • Great drill combo.
Style: 2 tool combo kit
I really like this combo so far. Ive only had it a few weeks so I havnt had a chance to see how durable it will be. They are both very light and compact, but are as powerful as any 18v Ive used. The grip and feel of the set is very nice. The light on the drill, as others have mentioned, is located in a strange place shining up at an angle from the battery. I personally like that the set comes with a tool bag rather than a hard case this way you can throw in a drill box a bit box and still have room for what ever you might need to get a job done. In my opinion tools are meant to get used and in this process will get scratched and banged around. Keeping tools pristine in a special box doesnt work for me especially these tools that are go to tools that will get a lot of use. *Tool guy rant* Ive used a lot of tools and and can say that a lot of it has to do with personal preference and availability. Most people tend to only know what is available at Lowes or Home Depot. These stores can be a great place to buy many tools but they dont always have the best tools. Im a general fan of Bosch tools for their ergonomics and typically solid quality and design. Dewalt, Makita, Porter Cable and Milwaukee are all also great brands generally available. When buying into a brand it may be worth thinking if you want to expand your cordless line beyond just a drill. Bosch has the best jobsite radio available. Dewalt has the widest range of tools, and best availability. Im more of a fan of Milwaukee for heavy duty cord powered tools like their portable band saw, magnetic drill and hole hog. Many brands have specific tools that stand out for example Skill makes what is generally the best and widest used worm drive circular saw, but I wouldnt touch their cordless tools. I admit Im the kind of guy that thinks about and researches tools a lot, but I enjoy working with them, and collecting tools for me is a hobby in itself. I use them to make a living during the week and for fun on the weekends and I enjoy doing so more when the tools work well for what they were made for. ... show more

  • Great So Far
Style: 2 tool combo kit
I've only had this set for about a month now, so I can't comment on the the durability or longevity of the tools. But what I can comment on is their power, comfort, and overall effectiveness. So far they have performed flawlessly. The drill is smooth and powerful, and the impact driver is awesome. I've never used a cordless impact driver before and I must say that it works much better for driving fasteners than a drill. I also like the LED light on each tool that shines as soon as you pull the trigger. I didn't think this would be very handy until I actually started using the tools. The drill and driver are very compact, well balanced in my hand, and have good overall ergonomics. The drill is lighter than the Panasonic's I've been using but heavier than the old Bosch I got in 1999. The batteries don't last as long as the other drills, but they're not rated as high either. As a consolation, the fast recharge rate of the lithium-ion batteries more than makes up for their shorter run time. Moreover, I can always purchase the higher capacity batteries if need be. The drill has a ratcheting chuck much the same as the Panasonic drills I own. This allows the user to lock the bits in good and tight and avoid bit slippage on most occasions. The impact driver has a quick-change bit holder that is pretty standard for this type of tool. The only problem I have so far is that the drill chuck doesn't close all the way. Hence, it will not hold bits smaller than a #55. To be fair, an 18V drill really isn't the type of tool one would typically be using for such small bits, but it would be nice to be able to use this drill with the smaller bits if one desired. Overall, I am very impressed with the tools. Moreover, I got them for an excellent price due to a mistake on Amazon's part. Amazon caught the mistake, but still honored the lower price anyway. Things like that make me a VERY loyal Amazon.com customer -- even though I have to pay tax on many items. ... show more

  • everything I needed and more.
Style: 2 tool combo kit
I was building a new fence that stretched far from my house and the power outlet. I was really looking for a variable speed reversing cordless drill since I was impressed by the Lithium-Ion technology of power and life. I read how Bosch was the best choice through friends and Adam Carolla's "Ace on the House" podcast. This set came with two batteries so I could charge one while draining the other and since the charge time was only 30 minutes, I would never be waiting. I thought I wanted just the drill to drive 3" deck screws into the fence panels and 4x4 posts since that is what i was familiar with. The Drill cost $160,but for $40 more, I could get the impact driver, the drill, the charger, the case a two batteries. the impact driver alone, would be over $100. I figured whatever, get the impact drill and maybe I'll need it someday. Wow what an eye-opener. What I really needed was the impact driver and the drill was the side tool. The impact driver drove all of the 3" screws effortlessly without ever stripping a single head. I barely had to push any force on the screw during the drive and it pounded all of them in on a single charge, one battery. Incredible! This is the tool for driving screws far and away better than the drill which requires much more down-force. The drill is nice for drilling wood, but for everything else, the impact driver is the weapon of choice. I wish I had this years ago but really glad I discovered it. If you are looking for a drill consider an impact driver instead. Try it at Home Depot then order it online :) It drive socket heads, screw heads, and everything else. Plus it is nice to have a drill for the pilot hole and the impact tool for the screws and not have to keep changing bits. The set is incredibly handy. Buy it and keep it for life. ... show more
