IF you are expecting cotton patches you will be disappointed. Maybe.... I was able to clean Copper out of my Super Copper Fowling Savage faster than I ever have before with these. They are made out of some synthetic material that streches and is very thin. you can fold this patch over or fold it in half twice and it fits more snugly. I bought the 2 1/2" square patch and used them mostly folded over twice. when i did this and used copper remover I was getting streaks of yellow copper more than I have with traditional patches. It took me 1/3 or 1/2 the time it normally takes me. I think because they are so thin you could use these even in a .223 if you didn't fold them. Have not tried. they do not tear at all and dont get stuck. even if it did get stuck I think you can just push it through... they are a great addition to my regular patches because they are so different. odd charictaristics. hold fluid very well. not sure what they are made out of. I burned one (pictured) and you can see they are some plastic nylon material. turns into hard black plastic when you burn them. ... show more

I've always used cotton cleaning patches in the past. Their disadvantage is they tend to leave fuzz behind, but they are absorbent and clean well. These Boosteady patches don't leave fuzz behind, they're not as absorbent as cotton, but do well enough. They're kind of thin and slick feeling, so I often have to use two or even three at a time, negating any savings I might have seen. I haven't tried many brands of cleaning patches, but once these run out I will probably try something else. If you do buy these, they will do a good job cleaning, but they might not be the best patches out there. ... show more

I am not sure what they are made of but they do work well. They are thin so you may have to stack 2 or 3 but that allows you to adjust the fit of your cleaning tool to the barrel you are cleaning. They do not leave lint behind and are inexpensive enough that using multiple patches is not cost prohibitive. ... show more

I realize these are just gun patches. I ordered them as a fill in and thought what could be different from the Hoppes brand I was using. These are a thinner fabric, most of the liquid runs out of the patch as opposed to holding it. Very little liquid is in/on the patch when you start it down the barrel as most is all over the bench or floor by then. They did seem to work a bit better with oil (thicker consistency) for coating surfaces prior to storage. ... show more
