I received my shredder about six weeks ago, brand new in the box, never opened, well packaged. I know some reviewers have been sent previously used model. Mine was in perfect condition. It is just the right size for what I need. I use it a few times a week as needed. Has not overheated for me since I only do a few sheets at a time. Nice smaller shredder works fine. It is nice and compact and tucks under desk so is easy to get out of the way. That said, I have a lot to catch up shredding so its a little puny for that. I have to take it slow or it overheats then must wait 40 mins to cool & continue. I don't know if it'll last thru my catch up project so will see. So far so good, I've used it for about two hours total now. Accumulatively. About 20 mins at a time and it's wonderful. I've shredded credit cards and full envelopes of junk mail and it hasn't jammed or overheated. Super easy to clean and doesn't create a whole lot of dust. Handles well.

I like everything about this shredder, minus one irritation that I didn't feel was worth dropping a whole star for. Because the bottom collection basket doesn't need to be anything more than lightweight plastic, 95% of the device's weight is in the removable top section (where the actual shredder motor and blades are). This top section doesn't attach to the basket below it with any sort of latch or hook, but instead tapers slightly and sits just atop and inside the basket. Because of how top heavy it is, it's easier to tip over than I'd really like it to be. And because the top doesn't latch and is just resting on the lip of the basket, if (...when...) it gets knocked over you'll find yourself spending the next 15 minutes cleaning the fantastically well shredded paper that's now all over your floor. If you have pets that are likely to investigate this (two of the times I've cleaned up shredded paper from the floor) or you're clumsy and prone to tripping over things (the other time I had to clean up shredded paper, lol), I'd suggest tucking it into a corner when not in use, or emptying it each time you finish shredding things. To be clear, I've never felt like this was a problem during normal use, and it's just an annoyance rather than a real "problem". Outside of that, I have absolutely no complaints about this device at all! It shreds incredibly well, handles the amount of paper it claims it can, and isn't even especially loud! (it's not "quiet", but it's much quieter than the shredders I've used in the past). I'm not shredding all that much, just typical household bills and credit card offers, but I've filled the basket 3 times at least and it seems to be holding up just fine, and by not pushing it to shred as much and as fast as possible I've never even seen the overheat warning others have talked about. Overall I like this shredder, just be mindful of where you leave it sitting if you don't plan on cleaning your floors today! ... show more

I had my wallet stolen a few months back and since then I have become VERY careful about my credit card and bank statements and all personal statements for that matter. This makes me assured when I run it through the shredder, it's gone for good. Very pleased!

This item does work, and it does shred paper into confetti; however, I'm not pleased with the performance of the motor. I had some file copies that needed shredding. The item's description said it will shred (6) sheets simultaneously. I was putting in no more than (4) sheets at a time and after about (2) minutes of shredding, it jammed up. After working on it for about 30 minutes, I finally got it un-jammed and working again. Also, after about (2) minutes of shredding, the motor gets hot and I noticed that the shredder slows down as the motor begins to warm. So, if you have (4) sheets of paper in when it begins to slow down, it most likely will jam up. When the motor begins to feel warm, I shut it down for about an hour and its good for about another (2) minutes of shredding. If you're only shredding occasionally, and not much at a time, then this unit should be fine as long as you don't exceed more than say (2) sheets at a time and don't shred any longer than (2) minutes per session. If your needs are like mine though, I would recommend looking for an alternative. ... show more
