  • Works great!
Killed all our invasive clover and spared our grass! We had a MAJOR clover problem, so this product was a life saver.

  • Works well on Chickweeds and Clovers
I have used this ready-to-use product on Chickweed and Clover type weeds, and it works well. I use it with a non-ionic surfactant to make sure that it sticks to the weeds' leafy area. It is not intended for crabgrass, and is ineffective with hearty crabgrass (nothing is great on crabgrass), but it does work well on dandelions. I am going to keep my empty ready-to-use 1 gallon container and try the concentrated mix next time as a refill. Try to use this when you know it's not going to rain for a couple days to increase its effectiveness. It also works well on any broadleaf weed, like dandelion and others. It will kill dandelions with one spray treatment and it won't come back. Clovers will brown within 3 days, and fade thereafter. Apply when the weather will be good for plant (weed) growth over the following couple of days because the chemical is absorbed through the leafs during plant growth - so try to avoid very, very hot or too cold of temperatures following application. Apply when winds are calm so you don't breath it too much and so that the product doesn't drift onto desirable ornamental plants that it could damage. They say you shouldn't mow the lawn directly before or after applying the herbicide. This is because you want the product to sit on the leafy surface. They recommend not mowing 2 days before or after application, but it depends on the type of weed (height). If you have so much weeds that the weeds have already choked out and killed your lawn, you may get brown spots after using this - not because this product kills the grass, but because this product is killing the weed patches, which have already killed the grass in that area. So you may need to drop some grass seed in those areas if the weeds were really bad. Now for some technicalities: This product is probably very similar to Ortho's Weed B Gone (by Scott's), but this Bonide product is clear in color and nearly odorless. In my opinion, the Weed B Gone seemed a little bit more "chemically" in its dark brown color and strong odor. The active ingredients here for this Bonide Chickweed, Clover & Oxalis Killer are: Triclopyr 1.12% + MCPA 11.2% + Dicamba 1.12% (These values are from manufacturer's website) Whereas for Weed B Gone it is: Triclopyr 1.56% + MCPA 13.72% + Dicamba 1.35% (so very similar active ingredients). (These values are from Amazon description) The ready-to-use gallon size container doesn't have to be dilluted with water, and is really for spot treatment. The real value for larger areas will be the 1-pint concentrate, which is applied at 3.2 oz per 1000 sq ft of lawn; so the 1-pint size covers 5,000 sq ft (16oz / 3.2oz / 1000sqft). The pint size costs something like $12 with shipping; so it is about $2.4 to cover each 1000 sq ft. Ortho's Weed B Gone pint size concentrate, by contrast, covers 3,200 sq ft (according to Amazon product page) for about $17; or about $5.30 to cover each 1000 sq ft. - about twice the price of this product. You can apply larger areas with a pump style tank sprayer or hose-end sprayer (I have about 1-acre). Overall; I'd say it's a very good product that's comparable to Weed B Gone but a much better value. ... show more

  • Review so far…Updated
My yard is full of weeds. When I say that, I mean I’m not even sure if I have actual grass in my yard due to all the weeds that cover my yard. Desperate for something that would do the job and do it well, I did my research and landed on this product. We finally had a nice day today, so I decided to go ahead and spray my lawn. The container was super easy to open but the hand sprayer it comes with is terrible if you have an entire lawn to do. Fortunately, I have two pump sprayers, so I opened the weed killer container and poured the contents into my pump sprayer and then went to town. It made the job SO much easier and half my lawn was sprayed within ten minutes. I have had to order a second gallon container because only one gallon covered half my yard. However, I now know that the trick to making my life easier and saving my hands is to utilize my pump sprayer to get the job done. Will update at a later time to let everyone know how it works with actual weed killing. After spraying half my yard, I let my neighbor use his weed and feed product on the other half of my yard (figured I’d compare products) while I used my second gallon in my moms yard. Man, this stuff WORKS! It killed the existing weeds in no time. I only wish it worked as a pre-emergent, too. It’s definitely costly when one considers how many weeds I have, so I wish it was granular because I feel I’d get better coverage, but if this is what works then that’s something to consider. I just know that I need roughly four or five gallons just to cover my entire yard for existing weeds. Overall, though, I highly, HIGHLY recommend this product. ... show more

  • Killed my clover
Was so happy this product did finally kill my clover. Love the product. My only complaint is that when while using the product, the bottle fell on its side and some product began to spill out. Checked the screw on, all was tight. So don't know why it leaked out.

  • I bought this material because the chemical itself is recommended for destroying creeping charlie and it may work
I bought this material because the chemical itself is recommended for destroying creeping charlie and it may work , what was irritating is the container spray mechanism was not capable of distributing the chemical. I pumped and pumped the spray nozzle and I just barely got either a tiny stream or a wisp of a spray. I had to bother my neighbor to borrow her tank sprayer in order to distribute the chemical. So during the transfer from one container to the other there was some spillage which became a waste of product as well as having to wash down that portion of the driveway in order to wash away/dilute chemical some my canine friend didn't get it on his paws. Whatever happened to taking pride in a product? HAving a better product than the other companies? HAving some Quality Control? ... show more

  • Weeds need to be saturated in order to work well
My lawn is full of clover and spurge so I thought I would try this since it doesn't kill the lawn just the weeds. I lightly sprayed it on my lawn and waited a few days but I didn't see the weeds dying so I sprayed again and saturated each individual weed. It did start to kill the clover but not the spurge, I sprayed it a third time and used the entire gallon on my lawn. There are still many weeds but I am glad that it did not kill my lawn and it does look better but I think I will try another weed killer next time. ... show more
