Description

The BISTRO Electric Burr Grinder crushes the coffee beans between conical burrs rather than chopping them, preventing the coffee from losing its characteristic taste and aroma. By twisting the upper bean container, the variable grind settings can be adjusted from a coarse French press setting all the way down to a fine ground for espresso, depending on the brewing method or personal taste. The BISTRO Electric Burr Grinder comes with an attractive, static-free borosilicate glass PRESSO container that conveniently sits within the base of the unit to collect ground coffee during use and also features a non-slip silicone band for secure handling. The BISTRO Electric Burr Grinder is made from borosilicate glass, steel, plastic, rubber and silicone.

  • 8 years and still going strong
Size: 7.4 L Color: Red Pattern Name: Grinder
I've had the grinder for 8 years, and it's still going strong. I regularly grind more aggressively than the recommended 5-minute cooldown when I need to course-grind an entire pound of coffee for cold brew. Three minor issues- 1. The burr was replaced after 3 years due to a broken plastic retaining ring. 2. Occasionally, the grind adjustment can slip a little bit when the grind is producing a lot of vibration. This is easily remedied by holding the hopper while grinding. 3. When I purchased this in 2014, there was terrible rubberized soft-touch finish covering the entire base. The finish deteriorated into a sticky mess within a year, but I was able to remove the rubberized finish permanently by scrubbing the base with a soft rag soaked in rubbing alcohol. Based on other reviews, Bodum has updated the grinder so that it has a smooth plastic finish instead of the terrible rubberized finish. ... show more

  • REVIEW - Bodum Bistro Burr Coffee Grinder (Blk)
Size: 1 EA Color: Black Pattern Name: Grinder
We purchased this for a 'replacement', this June 2022. Our previous model [one from another Seller here off Amazon], suddenly 'died' for no apparent reason, just about 2 wks prior to its warranty ending... So this is 'Number 3', for burr-style coffee grinders. As of now, I believe we have finally, FINALLY found a 'burr' which actually works and performs flawlessly - Of this, I've no complaints regarding its performance. Bodum, obviously listened to their consumer base and built accordingly... And it shows. The Bodum mills and produces consistent grounds every time it's used - There's no wasted excess - Coffee grounds DON'T blow out all over the place [machine and your countertop] in usage or upon opening the grind bin - Lot's and lot's of power - AND you can 'fine-tune' your grounds, to just about anything or amount one could possibly image - GREAT! The 'learning curve' with this burr-mill isn't overly steep, nor is it overly 'complicated' - It's really two simplistic adjustments - Your 'time' setting [length time for your grinding] and your 'coarseness' settings [how-coarse-of-grind-you-like] are really all that is required; you can grind for all types of coffee brewing devices out there. For 'clean-up' with this mill, it is pretty straight forward and not to difficult [hey, if a 67+ yr old guy, whom does 'drip' can do it, anyone can...right?]. And alot easier than were our last two burr-mills... A solid 'plus' in my book. "Noise-Level" is moderate - Abit noisy, but not overly-so and it is short lived. The Bodum's 'footprint' on the countertop is minimal - It takes up little space and my Wife is a hugh 'countertop-police', if you get my meaning. The 'cost' for this is abit more than many other 'burr-mills' here off Amazon - HOWEVER, with my AMAZON 'refund' [thank you, Amazon] regarding the last mill, it made the purchase of the Bodum less 'painful'. Although, if I were to do this 'mill-thing' all over again, I would have spent the monies outright and just gone ahead and bought the Bodum [better quality-support], as opposed to the previous two burr-mill-grinders... Which were totally 'junk' and ZERO customer support - It would have been money well spent. BEST: Grinds well - Lots of power - NO static-buildup with the glass grind bin [no coffee grounds everywhere]- Easy clean - Easy controls - Power cord storage - Large bean hopper [if used for storage]- CON: Perhaps pricing [for cost-conscious-buyers] - I'll come back and re-address this Bodum, at some later date and time, in 6 mos or so. If you are looking for a 'burr-style-coffee-grinder/mill', you might want to give this one serious consideration. EDB ... show more

  • Pleased with this purchase
Size: 1 EA Color: Black Pattern Name: Grinder
I initially tried a few lesser cost burr grinders, in the $40-60 range, which really did not do a good job for grinding beans for expresso - it was very messy, especially with the ground beans going into a plastic cup. This does well, for espresso, drip and French press grinds, and uses a glass cup. The only weak point is the grinding times are printed in clear lettering on the clear plastic cover, which is practically impossible to read, especially if you have entered the reading glass stage of life, but it doesn't take long to remember the grinding times are. I've this for about one year. ... show more

  • Nice grinder - lasted 10 years
Size: 1 EA Color: Black Pattern Name: Grinder
I've owned this grinder a little over 10 years and used it most every day. After close to 4000 uses, this morning it was successful in grinding my coffee beans, but there was a strong smell of smoke which I could see coming out where the ground beans do. It is very noisy like some other reviews mention. I'll probably be upgrading to a Baratza Virtuoso+, which will save me time measuring the beans every day. The Bodum unit has an analog timer which isn't very accurate. ... show more

  • Easy but messy
Size: 1 EA Color: Black Pattern Name: Grinder
Good stylish little unit. All the expensive grinders have a bunch of mixed reviews. This one was priced right and does a great job. It’s just impossible to not have grounds on the counter after pulling the glass container out after a grind. It’s to be expected though as several of the expensive grinders have the same reported complaint. As for noice, the thing is loud while grinding and quiet when not grinding. But I’ve yet to find a grinder that isn’t super loud. Overall, 4 stars. Does the job. I would give it 5 stars if they had a way to not make a mess. Less noise would be a win but I don’t know of a single grinder that isn’t loud. I’d say buy with confidence that you’ll get what you’re spending. A nice little grinder. ... show more

  • Good value
Size: 1 EA Color: Black Pattern Name: Grinder
So far, and it's only been used 5 times, it's been good. It would have been perfect if it would do a little bit more course grind for the French press. It wasn't horrible and still usable. Having a glass container for the grounds still produced some static, not as much as other brands and plastic collection cups. Overall, as I bought as a prime sale day it was a good value. If I had to pay full price it would not be worth it for a burr grinder. ... show more
