Living in coastal Florida, you have to be prepared for weather emergencies. We have sometimes gone without power for weeks. I bought these for our emergency kit. Unfortunately, we got the chance to use them after Hurricane Ian, when we were without power for two weeks. We used the lantern feature to light the room we were in. Leaving one in the main bathroom to be turned on as needed. These are rechargeable via USB and we took them with us in the car to recharge. The charge lasted the night, but we were careful to conserve energy. In addition to the rechargeable battery pack that comes with the devices, they also supply an insert that can hold standard batteries should you need. They are sturdily built, but fortunately, we didn't have to see if they were weatherproof. We had other flashlights available, so we didn't really use them for that purpose, but the light was bright when we tried it. Bought these when I was doing a night craft show event and I needed something to light up my canopy a little. I love the fact that the rechargeable with a USB and their small size makes it easy to pack away in a box when not in use. Unfortunately they were just not as bright as I was hoping and did not provide enough light for the canopy even partially, while the flashlight is fairly nice and bright the surrounding light which is the one I needed is actually fairly dim. I don't think one of them would put out enough for light to read by in a regular tent if you were camping. They seem to work great so I'll hang onto them for emergency flashlights but definitely not recommended if you need lights in your canopy. ... show more

We used twice so far. 1st time charging took almost 5 hours however, it lasted for a while! My daughter took it camping again this weekend with the scouts. Not only it provided light but it charged her cell phone while they were sleeping in the tent. The multiple light functions came in very handy. The compact size and the carabiner made it easy to pack and use. We loved it so much that we bought 2 more to put in our cars. I purchased these for emergency use during a power outage. They are very sturdy built, and I am amazed at how many features they have. You can use them as a flashlight or as a lantern. I have a barn cat and feed him in the evening. There is no electricity in the barn, so I take this lantern with me when I go. It lights up the whole barn.
