  • Looks great on the ‘17 X3
These are heavier and much better quality than the knockoff stuff online. Much better deal than Yakima Thule stuff. They feel good , look good , are heavy duty. Read the directions the mechanism for tightening is different but it’s solid and easy to do once you do it once. Great seller. I received in 8 days . Haven’t loaded it up yet but I’m really happy so far ... show more

  • Good product, seller, and transaction
Kit initially arrived missing a part and a key. Issue was quickly resolved by the seller. There is more road noise for these crossbars vs. a more aerodynamic Thule or Yakima solution, but these crossbars are half the price and installation is very easy.

  • Finicky and already broken
I bought these less than a year ago and have been disappointed. First of all, they are very finicky. For example, they have these tightening levers which you must turn to loosen when unmounting, but if you turn them too far, they get "stuck" and the manual advises using a 5mm allen wrench (not included) to fix the issue. And sometimes the plastic covers refuse to lock (which is essential for keeping them closed). Sometimes opening and closing the covers a bit would adjust them such that the locking mechanism works. Other times I had to reapply the tightening lever. One day I was trying to get these cross bars on in the cold and they weren't tightening properly and so I tried the allen wrench and still wasn't able to get them on and then a little spring (part of the tension mechanism for the tightening levers) came out and I couldn't get in back in place and I just gave up on this set. The bad news is that there aren't many other good options. I could pay more for a Thule set of crossbars which isn't perfectly fitted to the size of my vehicle like the BMW ones are. I guess maybe the mechanism would be less frustrating and I guess I could more easily switch them to another car later (by buying a new rail adapter set). But in the end I just ordered a new set of these BMW cross bars and I'm hoping they'll work better this time. ... show more

  • great product, very good value
These are solid as a rock, and a snap to install. Placed a Thule box on top and absolutely no problems with a 500 mile trip

  • Fits perfect and great quality
The product is better than expected. Great instruction booklet and well packaged by BMW to prevent shipping damage. Fits the X3 perfectly and is very strong. Tested without anything mounted on the rails at about 50 mph and hear no noise unless the sunroof is open. The instructions have a special section for the X3 with precise measurements on where to install the cross bars. I was concerned with the curved design of the X3 but the rails are made to compensate to allow items to be properly set on the rack. Very happy. Wish they had come with a storage bag as I will not likely keep them on the vehicle all of the time. ... show more

  • I would buy again.
My wife loves it! However, the plastic side piece arrived cracked, so I had to glue it back together. Didn’t want to go through the hassle of returning and waiting for a new one.

  • Great Option
I wanted to find an aftermarket option for our new X3 but I couldn't find the ones I liked updated for the newer models with a lower side rail. I'm glad that I ended up with these, they are easy to install even if you do it by yourself and they come back off in a matter of minutes. The wind noise is negligible. The only problem I've had is an older fiberglass carrier had u-bolts that are too narrow to get around the width of these rails. If you already have a carrier make sure the u-bolt or attach point has room for about 2.5 inches of cross bar. ... show more
