  • Large Size is MUCH Too Large for Average Goldens, Labradors, German Shepards, etc.
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Color: Pink
My male dog is between 75 and 80 pounds. I measured his neck just behind his ears as instructed, and it was a little over 19". I measured around the middle of his neck, and it was 22" with a generous fit so as not to be too tight. Some of the reviews I read said the size Medium was plenty big enough for a large dog and that the size Large size was far too large for most large dogs. I took those reviews to heart and ordered Size Medium, but what if it was wrong? I would have to wait an extra two days to get another collar, and I need one NOW, so I also ordered the size Large as well knowing I would return one or the other once I had the chance to try them on my dog. Both collars arrived today. I can confirm what the other reviewers have said about the size Large. It is far too long for your average large dog like a Golden, a Labrador, a German Shepard, etc. The Large is more the length of a petite woman's belt than a collar. Yes, it can be adjusted, but the amount of nylon collar you will double back on itself is significant, and it just makes the collar look lopsided and bulky to have that much collar doubled back on itself. So, now I am lumbered with returning the size Large. I should have stuck with my original assessment and only ordered the size Medium. I dislike boxing up items and taking them into town to return them, but I will do so and next time trust my first instinct on something like this. The problem is they have put enough length on the size Large to accommodate all three sizes: large, X-large, and XX-large dogs, and possibly small ponies. Seriously, the size Large would fit a pony. It would probably even fit most horses. There should be a size Large that is maybe two inches longer than the Medium collar, and then there should be an extra size for X-Large/XX-Large dogs that would perhaps be 3 inches longer than a size Large. I suppose they are not doing it that way in order to cut costs. Shame on you, Blazin! Speaking of cutting costs, there is a tiny, rubbery piece that seals off the point where you insert the USB charger. It is so tiny and so flimsy that I am sure it will not last more than a few months AT MOST if you use one of these collars a lot and thus have to charge it often. The more this little piece is handled, the weaker it will become, and very shortly, it will fall off. Pencil erasers are sturdier than this little piece. This is a VERY CHEAP detail that could have and should have been done better. Really disappointed in this. Double shame on you, Blazin! As for the collar material itself, it seems to be a sturdy nylon that would hold up very well over a long period of time. How well the LED's will work and hold up I cannot estimate as I have not used the collar yet. I did have to charge the collar for a while upon arrival. I think it took about 20 minutes to fully charge it, so I would imagine the battery had a fair bit of charge in it already upon shipping. Well, if the LED's are very bright outdoors, and if the charge lasts a long time, and if the collar holds up otherwise, I shall be happy enough. I will update this review soon. For now, though, my two complaints are the pitiful rubber piece they use to seal the USB port from dirt, water, etc., and the fact that the size Large is really more of an XX-Large instead of a true size Large. Meanwhilst, the size Medium fits my dog, but it does not have any extra length, so it cannot be adjusted upward by an inch or so if the dog gained a lot of weight or if I wanted to use it on a slightly larger dog. This is a bit of a drawback. Being able to adjust the size Medium upward by an inch or so would be nice. I hope this review is clear and makes sense. I had to use the words, Medium and Large a lot to describe what I have in front of me. I hope I have not confused anyone. If you have an average size Golden, Labrador, etc., of between 65 and 80 lbs., the size Medium is your best bet. Measure your dog's neck just behind and his ears. If it is 19 inches or a tad more, again, the size Medium should work for you. If your dog's neck is really so big that you need a size Large, be prepared to have to adjust and loop back the collar on itself. It will look overly bulky and lopsided. Just know this in advance. Right now, based on my two main criticisms, I am awarding three stars across the board. If the collar performs really, really well over the coming weeks and months and does not fail, etc., I may upgrade the stars awarded to four. I do not think I could award five stars in any case for the reasons I outlined. If the maker replaces that flimsy rubber piece, and if they made a size Large. and a larger Size XL-XXL, that would be a huge and good step in the right direction for properly fitting a range of dog sizes. As it is right now, I think three stars is fair, and I may upgrade it to four stars once I have had enough time to assess performance. ETA: I have only used the collar a couple of nights so far, but it is indeed quite bright. All modes, i.e. steady, fast flashing, and slow flashing work well. At one point on the first night I used the collar, it seemed to turn itself off. I had to turn it on again. I suppose something my dog ran through could have pressed the button and turned it off. That is very worrisome. If you must be able to identify where your dog might be in the dark in a reasonably vast area, the light getting turned off somehow is a big problem. I will continue to use the collar nightly and update this review in a few weeks. ... show more

  • Helpful depending on color
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Color: Green
The sizing is definitely “interesting”…my dog that is 20 pounds less than the other wears the same size. If you tighten it down almost all the way, it does fit, just looks a little large on her. The buckle is very hard to snap together; it’s almost like if you don’t align it up perfectly, it doesn’t clip together. The green is nice and bright on a dark colored dog at night in the country. The pink doesn’t seem as bright in terms of me seeing the ground around the dog as she walks around…especially when out at the same time as the dog with the green color collar. It comes with the cord to charge it but you need a charging port to plug it into the wall and charge it. It has one button to turn it on/off. You hold it down and it turns on and stays solid in collar. You hit it again and the collar starts blinking its collar. You hold it down again (in either setting - solid or blinking setting) and it will turn off. Overall it was a good buy for the shorter days coming up and with darker color dogs. ... show more

  • Great lighted collar
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Color: Green
I think I like everything about this collar. I can't think of any cons. I like that it snaps - I used to use the ones that slide over the head but my dog hated it when I would have to take it off. He doesn't mind the snap at all. It's rechargeable which is great. It lasts a pretty long time...I believe I charge it once every couple of months. I'm not totally sure about that but it seems like a pretty long time between charges. I got the green light because I felt it would be most visible. It works great. People stop us and ask about it all the time. I feel like I get asked about it at least a couple of times a week (a couple of times a night if there are a lot of people around). The collar has flashing features, but I don't use them. I find the flashing too distracting. So that's it. I love the collar. Great visibility at night! ... show more

  • Amazing visibility, long charge retention
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Color: Green
We got the green LED collar for our mostly-black dog for walks in the woods after dark. She is a beacon! If anything, it would be nice if there were a reduced-brightness mode (instead of just flash pattern modes), but in terms of safety this is an impressive collar and we bought one for our other dog. It's easy on/off, and would be great for any context where increased visibility would be useful. We used to use little clip on lights for her collar, but their visibility is limited by the direction she is facing, and they banged around on her chest. This is a far better solution. No insight RE durability since it's relatively new to us, but we left it without charging for a month after we bought it before using it and the charge was still strong for an hour long walk. . ... show more

  • A Great Product
Size: X-Small (Pack of 1) Color: Green
As I said after purchase in July this was a great buy. Key points: 1) I needed it because I have poor balance outside in the dark so have to watch my little dog from inside when she goes out after dark. (She got out of the fenced yard one night and it took me an hour to find her so I had to do something and bought this). 2) It's the only light-up collar I could find to fit a 7 1/2 lb. chihuahua. 3) I slip it over her head and remove it after she comes back in. 4) I can see her in the darkest corner of the yard. 5) I have used it 4 months now, 5-10 min. a night and it has not yet had to be charged. 6) I am thankful to this company every night for this product. ... show more
