I got this for use with my griddle, particularly with my burgers and cheesesteaks, but I’ve found a lot more use for it since I originally got it. Fish, Mexican cuisine, even making popcorn on the griddle. This thing is big enough to handle it all. About 18 months ago I bough two cheese melting domes. One slightly smaller than this one, that had an all metal handle and looked professional and very sturdy, and this Blackstone one After using both for about a year, I realized the smaller one with the metal handle is useless unless your wear a oven mitt. The metal heats up a lot after about two minutes. (I am not using it to melt cheese, but to reflect heat to cook the food I am cooking, faster) So I order what thought was the same Blackstone melting dome. It works great, the handle does not get hot, but the stamped design of the dome is different than the Blackstone I bought last year. Not a big deal, but I thought I was buying a matching item. Again it works great, it's lightweight, and cleans off easy enough. But if you have an older one, this dome is slightly different. ... show more

I use this on my 36" Blacktone Griddle and it made the best melted cheese on top of my burgers ever! I used to spray some water and close the lid but I had to steam everything basically to just get my cheese done. Used this once for burgers and it made 10x better melted cheese in a fraction of the time. Next thing is to try and steam some vegetables with it! My only drawback is that the metal itself is pretty flimsy so it may not take a beating but if you are just using it for its intended purpose there shouldn't be any issue. Just don't bump it into any of your cast iron accessories or it will likely dent which is more cosmetic than functional. Highly recommend this dome!!! ... show more
