I waited to review this tool until I had an occasion to use it. And I will admit I was super skeptical. I react to mosquito, sand fly, bees, etc more than the usual person - have epi pen for bees. Per my doctor I am unusually reactive to insect bites. I got a bite (NOT a bee sting)... not sure by what - it was on the under side of my wrist. I wish I would have taken before and after shots because it was amazing. First, the pen/tool is unusual. It's something new to use - so after rereading the instructions and trying a few times, I got it done. When applying the tool be prepared it will feel HOT - but it doesn't burn. Now if you used it over and over and over on the same spot without stopping - you might be able to harm yourself. And they do note if you have any conditions that lower your sensitivity to pain or feeling - don't use this tool. Having said all of that - there is a slight learning curve and then you get it. I was surprised at the heat - I guess I wasn't sure what it feel like - but once I knew that was the process and that it didn't really hurt - maybe slightly uncomfortable for a second or two - it was easy. The result is amazing. The redness, swelling and itching that came with it was almost immediately reduced. I did reuse it about 3 times in about 5 minutes for complete relief from the itching. It is the following morning. I can barely see the bite and it is not red or itchy at all. Period. THAT is a miracle for me. I usually itch and swell for days and days. It's just misery. I THINK I may have found something that will make my life a lot more tolerable. Hooray! I am so excited about it. I may purchase one of these for my sister who has the same kind of reactions I do to insect bites. A couple of notes: This tool does NOT prevent or stop you from catching insect born diseases - and it is slightly uncomfortable with the heat - but partly because you don't know what to expect. That is quickly solved with correct use. I recommend just trying it on your skin once to prepare for the sensation. I keep the directions rubberbanded to the tool so that I never forget how to use it - but with summer here and more time on front deck - I'll be using it a lot. Right now, if I could give it 10 stars I would. I am going to try and get a before and after photo to add to my review. Having said that, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new information seem useful. ... show more

I am a mosquito magnet so I’ve tried everything to treat mosquito bites. Bite Away works as well as anything else I have tried- that is to say, it doesn’t completely get rid of the itch, but it gets rid of it for awhile. I just used it on 2 bites that were itching and they no longer itch. Will they start itching again later tonight or tomorrow? Probably. But then I can heat treat the bites again, or use hydrocortisone cream. This is a better result than basically every other cream or device that I’ve used. The heat is a bit painful, especially on sensitive skin. But it’s not bad enough that I don’t want to use Bite Away (the itching is worse than the pain). I would buy it again and recommend it. ... show more

I’m in Louisiana and have been eaten by bugs this week. I got the bite away bc I am allergic to the venom left by these mosquitoes. This device helps take away the itch, but it does hurt. It’s only 4 seconds of intense heat but this could never, ever be used on any child. It takes away the itch, but the ceramic tip burns like hell. ... show more

TL;DR - If you're a fellow mosquito magnet who has tried everything else for relief, buy this! I'm a mosquito magnet. I can sit by the pool with 10 people and I'll be the only one to get bit. Multiple times. Sometimes in the same spots. Not only am I a magnet, but when I get bit the bites turn into giant welts that take weeks to fully heal. I try to counter this by being outside as little as possible, but it's inevitable that I'll eventually get bit. My old remedy was an immediate wash with soap and water (DO THIS!) followed by a prescription steroid cream, which would partially alleviate the itch briefly. A couple weeks ago my dog got off leash and chased a rabbit into the woods. The humid, damp woods that our neighbors literally had a sign made for saying "Mosquito Lake" because when it rains the water likes to stay for awhile. After eventually rounding up the dog I took stock of my appendages. Amid the blood smears (from me smacking them as they feasted on my blood) I came away with 18 bites. I knew I was in for a miserable time. I immediately showered, scrubbing all those spots with soap (again, always do this, it makes a difference!) Then I logged on to Amazon thinking that surely someone somewhere has invented something that would help me. I came across this little gadget. I was skeptical, but the reviews were promising. It would even arrive the next day! I added that sucker to my cart and prayed. Folks, this little zapper is magic! After using it the itch stops. Just like that! On several of the spots I only had to zap them once a day, a few of them I'd zap 2-3x a day as they'd start to itch. But as soon as I zapped I had instant relief! Not only that, but the bites actually heal much faster as well! (Probably because I'm not scratching them endlessly). Does it hurt? Sometimes, and some areas are more sensitive than others. To me, the pain is worth it. It's almost cathartic. I can feel when the pain takes over from the itch and it's almost a giddy relief. I went to FL not long after the dog incident and this baby stayed in my car door. Any time I got bit on the trip I'd zap myself. The sooner you wash and zap the faster relief and healing kicks in (at least from my own observations). Anyway, I know this is a book, but I wanted to impart just how much I adore my Bite Away. If I had to give it any con at all, the batteries it came with died fairly quickly. A quick replacement of fresh AA's took care of that and I was back in zappy business! ... show more
