    • Great DIY kit.
With the way I'm using this, it's very easy for me to make mini sketchbooks. There are ten spiral coils included, and each one has thirty rings on it. If I make mini books with ten holes at the top for long books, or on the side for wider books, that allows me to make thirty little books with this kit alone. A paper cutter that can trim paper down to the size you need is extremely useful for this kind of project. The hole puncher itself is really strong, but it is not large capacity, meaning you can't really punch through a large stack of paper. I could only reasonably fit three pieces of cardstock at a time. I'm sure you could fit twice that amount of standard printer paper or notebook paper, but that is still just a small amount of paper to be able to punch through at once. There is actually a guide on the side of the hole punch that helps you keep the holes lined up, so that's really helpful. It will be time consuming to punch all the holes probably, but it's worth it if you want to make your own books. It's not a messy process at all since the hole puncher collects all the punched paper into the bottom compartment that you can empty out later, or use as confetti if you're so inclined. I love the ring binders. They're easy to trim down to the size you need, and they are large capacity, so they hold a lot of paper. They are pretty easy to open with the included zipper tool, and I just pinch them closed with my fingers. I haven't had any issues with them, and they seem like they would be reusable for a reasonably long time meaning I can add more paper to my mini sketchbooks when I need to. I got this to help me prepare materials for a workshop I am hosting. In the past, I've had my materials printed at print shops, only to find that the binding was permanent, preventing us from adding pages as we might want. This WORKLION system will allow us to open the binding, remove or add pages, and close the binding again. Here are some thoughts from trying it out: * The hole punch is strong and sharp. * The alignment tool at the end of the punch is really smart and makes the end result look very professional, unlike many other types of hole punches out there. * The binding opens and closes quickly and fairly effortlessly. * The kit includes 10 binding combs, so it's enough for a small project and plenty if you have small pages in your project, too, because you may actually be able to cut the binding in half and get two books from one comb. I will need to check on the availability of other comb colors. The ones included are cute, but unless your brand aligns with pastel blue and pink, you may find your best option to be the colorless translucent combs. Black or white would be nice. Hopefully I can find those and other colors from WORKLION. I'm really excited for how our workbooks will turn out, look so professional, and last a long time as people are able to add updates and remove outmoded pages as they need to. ... show more

Nice and heavy, though part of it is plastic (nothing that should break on you though). It punches holes appropriately spaced for my A5 and B5 20 and 26 hole binders and notebooks!

    • Exactly what I need but make sure to read what you get
This is exactly what I was looking for in order to bind Christmas songbooks for my family. It's so ridiculously expensive to get things spiral bound locally but I wanted to create the books as a gift and also because we all get together every week during Advent for a sing along. I wouldn't go so far as calling this a "machine" which is what it's currently listed as. It's a great hole punch and has the tools you need to bind your books yourself.     • Works well, but time consuming
It worked really well punching a letter size page, but was a bit off on a B5 (composition) page. Great for adding pages to a notebook. The downside is punching is time consuming with this binder. I like to create my own pages for writing. They fit my style since I created them. But preparing a 50 to 100 page notebook would take a lot of time because each group of a few pages must be punched multiple times. Five stars for adding pages to an existing book, four stars for creating a new book. It may be time consuming, but the punches are clean and accurate. ... show more
