  • Best charger I have ever owned.
This charger is built very solidly. It is heavy and I presume it uses a good sized transformer. It has a built in cooling fan. The automatic function works well through about 9 stages in the charging process. It initially analyzes and then step two, if necessary, it de-sulfates the battery. This took about 7 hours on a spiral wound lead-acid battery in a tractor of mine. The battery has a 720 cold cranking amps rating and was down to 200 amps capacity based on my capacitance tester. After 7 hours in the de-sulfating mode the charger turned itself off with a FULL indication in its window. I then tested the battery and it had 700 CCA's. My only criticism is that the charging cables, although plenty heavy in wire gauge, are quite stiff when the charger is used in the cold. Overall, this charger is particularly well built while using advanced microprocessor technology for top performance. I don't know of any other charger equalling its performance and build quality. ... show more

  • Well built and heavy duty.... and I mean it!
One of the few remaining metal housed unit. The cables are heavy gauged and the clamps are well made to prevent accidental contacts. The unit is heavy.... which is a good sign of a well built transformer. The various options are useful and straight forward. The instructions are worthless, but, really, if you need instructions on a battery charger, perhaps, you should leave this kind of electric appliance alone.. lol. The only improvement I would suggest is for heavier duty buttons... the only parts I feel will wear out after years of usage. Even though many others have fancy LCD displays, but I think this simple 'old schooled' indicators are more robust and will be longer lasting. ... show more

  • It works
There are a lot of battery chargers out there, what attracted me to this one was the battery rejuvenation feature. In a non-scientific testimonial I think that works well. With us both working at home this year, one car doesn't get started up very often if I forget. A few times this year I've had to jump start or trickle charge my Mustang with the 3 year old battery. Even doing that, it didn't seem to hold a charge well. I got this one and a ran a re-conditioning charge on it, now it seems to hold its charge a lot longer! This product was delivered quick and seems to be worth the money I spent. ... show more

  • Works as I hoped, but the manual is useless
It's charged the 100Ah battery my old charger threw its hands up at, and that I've previously had to take to a battery shop to recharge. Unfortunately, however, the printed manual it comes with isn't much help. It doesn't explain what all the indicators on the unit mean; it only states the obvious, and includes time-wasting safety warnings for the kind of people who cause apartment buildings to be evacuated by them misusing desk fans. But if I get a few more good charges and a reliable high-current power source from this, and if it had a proper manual, this would be a five-star purchase for sure. ... show more

  • A "STUPID" Smart Charger
It is built well BUT... I purchased this unit specifically for the Desulfation feature for my 6 Volt Lead Acid Batteries. However... 1: The manual does not show a way to use the Desulfation mode for 6 Volt Batteries (only 12 Volt batteries) 2: The Desulfation mode will not work on ANY battery that needs it BECAUSE the "smart" (STUPID) charge control first needs to charge the battery to 100%, Only then will it supposedly automatically (there is no switch) begin a Desulfation cycle. Remember that show "are you smarter than a fifth grader". Well the engineers that designed this are not. Because a heavily sulfated battery will NEVER reach 100% charge unless you get rid of the sulfation first! DUH!!! I did call, email, fill out forms for customer service to see if there was a work around. BUT, they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE (no one EVER got back to me after 3 attempts). So I sent it back and bought a Schumacher. Hopefully their engineers did not go to the same school as the guys that designed this charger. ... show more

  • poor instructions
the directions that are supplied do not explain the functions of the charger :the function for alternator check is not explained at all.these directions are poorly written

  • Solid, fast, feels well-built and does just what it should
I've been through a bunch of similar units, several from well-known manufactures, but this feels better built - by far. The case is solid and it's much heavier than the others. Sure, it may just have a few bricks inside or use depleted Uranium for the shell, but if that were the case someone else would have noticed by now. I hope! More importantly, it charged my car, motorcycle and lawnmower batteries faster and more thoroughly than the unit it replaced. Frankly, that surprised me. I figured charged is charged but now after a full cycle the volt meter in my rarely-driven project car reads 12V, whereas the last one left it around 11.5V. And the engine is much happier to start than before. Hopefully this one lasts more than a month past warranty expiration, unlike its predecessor. Time will tell, and if it does suffer problems or a premature death I'll be sure to update the review. ... show more

  • Seems good, but instructions are worthless.
Hoping to figure out how to use as a trickle charger. It did recharge a weak battery quickly, but I felt lucky, since the instructions are worthless. First, they make no sense at all, and second, they refer to a table of options that doesn’t exist in the document.
