I previously had a bluetooth OBDLink MX+ which is just a little cube. It was supposed to cover a bunch of protocols but it only provided Engine/ECU codes for my Mercedes E350. Disappointing. This iCarsoft MB V3.0 is super cool. I did their firmware upgrade before I tried it out and that went just fine. The upgrade was easier to do than PDF showed, it's pretty intuitive. Using the MB V3.0 is a snap, the auto VIN worked great and the quick scan pretty much does it all. My car has a power driver door lock that isn't working and that showed a code, what's more the MB V3.0 has a feature that signals the Door Control Module to test the driver door lock actuator (and the others individually too). Such a powerful tool. It seems you signal any actuator, as I did this for the AC Divider Flap. For that you can see the current position and more. Clearing codes individually is also simple to do and codes are labeled as "historic" or "historic, present" where historic codes are not a problem at the present time. During the car's battery change many modules had reported "voltage too low" which was true for just that moment in time, so that's one example of historic but not present. It might have been nice to use an iPad and BT but wired shows data immediately, way faster than the BT dongle thing, and the wire really is not a problem for me.     • Reads codes Doesnt clear stored memory - Doesnt seem to be for a 2019 Sprinter 3.0L diesel?

Several problems so far. Bought this for a 2019 MB Sprinter 3.0L diesel. First it will not link up via the VIN process, or manually. In manual, there is nothing in the menu that remotely resembles a selection for my vehicle. Not even VS30. I tried them all anyway. So I just read the codes from the diagnostic Icon menu option. It did identify a P2196 (O2 sensor). It would only clear the temporary codes. Not the the P2196 code stored in memory. A DIY replacement on the sensor would not clear the stored code, nor would this iCarSoft scanner. MB Dealer had to clear the code. Which cost $. I could have obtained the same result having an auto parts store scan it for me. Software update doesn’t follow as given in manual. So far unable to reach iCarSoft to talk to someone live. Tried calling the listed number for iCarSoft several times well within their listed hours. Ring no answer. No message, doesn't go to voice mail. Tried emailing to get a live contact for more details and to walk through a software update. They emailed me back and provided a link to a youtube video made by a third party. Which was all over the place, with a different model/version. With the only other email content. "Have a nice day". Their customer service must not exist? I recommend paying more for a different brand. A waste of money so far. ... show more

This diagnostic scanner was shockingly better than I expected. The price is amazing and I was worried I was going to get a knock off or something that didn't work but I was pleasantly surprised. It dies everything it advertises. I was able to get my mercedes 2009 c300 4matic sport out of limp mode which is where it won't shift out of 1st gear. My car was basically unusable and this scanner allowed me to delete the diagnostic codes that were causing my car to be in limp mode and causing my engine light to be on. It was super easy to use. You just plug it in to your obd port and it's ready to go. Quick, fast, and easy. I'm no mechanic and I fixed my car all by myself. If you own a Mercedes you should own this scanner. Got scan tool, updated and got to work. Have a 2022 sprinter 3.0 diesel. Helps to have a resource to look up and clear all the odd warnings. Seems expensive but much cheaper than driving a few hundred miles and being out possibly thousands of dollars at dealership. At least with this you can sort of interpret what your sprinter wants or needs,,, solve and then clear warnings. ... show more

I gave this scanner 3 stars because it does work (to an extent) without the user being an expert, like you would if you used a sophisticated factory scanner like MB Star Das/Xentry system. The problems with this device are many, but I will list just a few. 1). The scanner would not identify my vehicle or its VIN as advertised. (2006 Mercedes SL500 R230). I had to go thru the drill down list each and every time I used the tool. This included entering the make, the model, the series, and the year. My cheap $39 Harbor Freight code reader recognizes the VIN immediately. 2). Once I got the scanner to recognize my vehicle, the next step in the diagnostic section would be to perform the “quick test”. The scanner should automatically go thru and check for codes on all the modules on the vehicle. On my vehicle, I think there are 35 different modules this device interrogated. (there are more than 35 on this vehicle). Every time I tried this the scanner would go thru 10-15 modules fairly quickly, then it would start to slow down taking longer and longer with the later modules. Finally it would hang forever on a module like “Cell phone interface” which is an option my car doesn’t have! After waiting for 10 minutes, the scanner remained frozen until I unplugged the OBD cable. Then you have to do the entire process over, starting with the manual VIN entry. 3). Due to the scanner tending to freeze, I would simply have to interrogate each module individually and avoid the modules that tended to hang the system Very time consuming and inconvenient. 4). Once you did get the module info, the data was limited. In my case, I was interested in the Transmission Control unit. The “read-data” menu option leads you to several sub-menus that are clumsy to use. The screen only shows five lines of data at a time. Good luck with tracking data in a sub menu that has 7 or 8 lines of data. You are forced to flip back and forth between screens. Many of the data sub menus have redundant data lines like Trans oil temp. There is no option to custom pick and choose which data you want to monitor. 5). Data logging is hit and miss, at best. I did a test run trying to monitor some shift data on the TCU. Of course, the data you monitor is only the data that the sub menu prescribes. If you want more data than what the sub menu offers, you must do multiple logging sessions. This method has obvious limitations. It only records data once every second. On several logging runs, I examined the data afterwards, only to find that the 10 minute run record showed the exact same numbers for the entire 600 frames. Absolutely useless! I did manage to get one out of five sessions to actually record dynamic data. 6). On the box, they advertise that the scanner will do transmission adaptations. When I selected that option, the scanner informed me OPTION NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE. Just for fun, I tried a variety of other models and years. In every case, I got the same OPTION NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE. So my guess, it will not do transmission adaptations on any Mercedes. False advertising, for sure. All in all, don’t waste your time or money with this scanner unless you only want a clumsy, expensive, glorified code reader. When it comes to Mercedes, either spend the money on a real DAS/XENTRY system or go with the cheap Harbor Freight code reader. This device is an amateur “in-betweener” and is way overpriced for what it will do. ... show more
