The Controller has 6 heat settings and 6 hour auto off, allowing you to get just the right temperature and allows you to turn down your thermostat to save energy and money. The therapeutic heat settings can be controlled so you stay comfy whether sleeping in or just relaxing on your couch. The blanket warms up fast and is efficient in keeping you comforted. Do not cover or wrap the controller and make sure both items are in a well ventilated area when in use. Additiol safety certification for this product can be viewed on the UL or Intertek websites. I received this throw blanket on 9/28/2021. It stopped working on 11/10/2021. Apparently returns/refunds are only handled by Biddeford, not Amazon. Getting in touch with them has been next to impossible. They do not answer emails and their phones are only answered during limited hours (10 AM-6 PM M-F)). After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes, the customer service representative was helpful. I actually have 2 of these throws and she had me test the controller for the working throw on the faulty one. It worked for about 60 seconds, then stopped and I could smell something burning. Now I have 2 non-working blankets! They will send a replacement blanket when they receive the faulty one back and a new controller for my older throw. It seems like a lot of work for heated throw but, in their defense, my older throw was great until we tested the controller on the faulty throw. Update: The Biddeford folks never sent me a return label. They are almost impossible to reach by telephone and they do not answer emails. I have tried to call multiple times and I'm always put on hold for the next available representative - no matter what time of day that I call. Eventually they hang up on me after waiting on hold for 20-25 minutes. I am so frustrated with their customer service. I'll never purchase again but the blanket/throw only worked for 6 weeks and I feel ripped off. Also, the one time that I got through, I blew up the controller for the other blanket/throw that I own when I followed their instructions to test the working controller on the faulty blanket/throw. So now I have 2 blanket/throws that do not work and they should replace both BUT I CANNOT REACH A LIVE PERSON ON THEIR PHONE LINE AND THEY DO NOT ANSWER EMAILS. UPDATE - Biddeford customer service is definitely slow but they did replace my faulty heated throw & the controller for my other one. I received my new throw yesterday, 1/15/2022 - almost 2 months after they promised a replacement. The new controller came a few days after the new year. I know companies are having a difficult time hiring & keeping staff. Maybe that is the reason that it took so long for resolution. Anyway, I hope the new throw works longer than the one it replaced. ... show more

I have used a Biddeford heated throw for several years. I keep the thermostat low in my home office and use the throw to get a little more heat. I usually have at setting 2 or 3 out of 6. It works just fine for me, and is soft and not too heavy. It usually gives out after a long time of use. I don’t get close to 5 years of use. Not sure but I think it is 1-3 years, and I’m happy with that. Early failure may be my fault for forgetting too many times to turn it off when leaving the office. Also, around the time it fails, it’s probably time to change to a fresh throw anyway. The replacement controller is almost as expensive as the throw so I just reorder a new throw. I have gotten it at the store before, but they no longer carry it. ... show more

We love this blanket! My kids are obsessed with it. We bought it for when my mother in law comes over and sleeps on an air mattress, the air is kind of cold so she uses this underneath and it works great. My only complaint is that sometimes just turns off with a blinking light and you can't turn it back on. So I have to unplug it from the blanket, turn the plug around the other way, and plug it back in. And it will even do it the other way, too, sometimes. So... it's great if you're awake and are paying attention. I could definitely see waking up cold if you sleep or nap with it on. ... show more

This is a small electric blanket for cold nights on the couch or chair. It warms and it is soft, but the craftsmanship is cheap when compared to Sunbeam and other brand names. Perhaps the biggest negative is the connector. The plug and socket have no retention device to keep the plug connected to the blanket, so the plug regularly falls out of the blanket. I admit that it's a small thing, but it is a pain in the *** to continually hunt for the plug, reattach it and turn the blanket back on again. Next time, I'll spend the extra dough in hopes of getting a better-quality product. ... show more

used to be great customer service and warranty. but my recent experience in my opinion is their quality and customer service just aren't what they used to be. Recently defective throw lasted a couple months and im given a hard time by customer service and since been sent to more defective products.

Ordered this for my father who gets cold after his chemo treatments. On the hottest setting it doesn’t get very warm. It will get warmer if he puts another blanket on top of it to trap the heat.
