  • Worth the money!
Mounted this on a Ruger American 22lr bolt action with a Nikon Buckmaster 4-12X50 BDC Rifle Scope. The unit adds a fair amount of weight to the rifle and is a little cumbersome to carry around in the field. Also, there is no way to adjust the backlighting of the screen which is pretty bright. Too bright really. In total darkness you are illuminating your upper body and the area right around you. With a small field of view, you will be scanning around the area and the background lighting will be almost flashing due to the IR light shining on things close to you and making the view screen get brighter to a point it's hard to look at. The ability to turn down the backlighting would be huge! First try using it, I took it out and was scanning one of our pastures and spotted a Fox about 80yrds out. Perfect image, no mistake what it was. I took the shot, missed low. I was able to watch the Fox jump in the air and followed him as he ran off into the woods. With the rifle mounted in a sled, I used the view screen to sight the scope in, bullseye at 75yrds and then stretched out to 80 and then 100yrds. The system worked great. The screen gets a little blurry when zooming in with the scope but I could still see the impact holes in the target to adjust the scope at 100yrds. I leave the scope zoom at the lowest power of 5x and adjusted the focus on the camera for a rather clear picture at 80yrds while using the night vision. That night I went out to the same pasture, scanned as I did before, saw the same Fox and took the shot. This time I heard the "whop" sound of impact and the critter was down! 2 more to go! Take your time with the setup and fine tuning just like you would with a new scope and I think you will be pleased. I am! ... show more

  • Works pretty much as advertised.
The camera arrived today and I finally got it installed. First thing you do is go to a vape shop and buy three batteries. Installation with the parts provided was difficult. The mounting tube with the compression fittings is worthless. It slips around a little and will not stay aligned with the scope. The other mounting tube with the six screws will work just fine as soon as I buy some longer screws. I'm mounting it on a Weaver T series and the eyepiece diameter is just a little small for the tube provided. I'll make it work but not right out of the box. Everything has to be lined up just perfect and locked firmly in place and there should be no problems. I have a sharp clear image with the standard video. Gotta wait until dark to check the night vision. ***Stopped by the hardware store and picked up 6 longer screws. I don't recall the size but they were metric. The longer screws allowed ne to center the camera securely to the scope and get everything clearly focused. It works well on the Weaver t series but not so well on my Vortex Golden Eagle I use for benchrest.*** ... show more

  • Works extremely well considering the price
I was very skeptical of this product due to its low cost. I initially looked into two other similar units after watching ratting videos on YouTube but I could not find distributors for them, at least none here in the United States. At the time I ordered the Bestsight I had been involved in attempting to rid an area of an extremely intelligent rat and using a night vision unit was the last option. The night before the Bestsight arrived I was able to eliminate said rat with my Air Arms 510 pellet rifle and illuminated reticle Meopta scope but it was just as much due to luck than anything. At the time of this writing I only have access to a distance of 20 yards here in the city for testing but here's what I found: My airgun rig consistently holds one-hole groups at 20 yards. The rifle was zeroed with just the scope using 9/16" dot targets. Then I installed the Bestsight. It was tested at night in complete 100% darkness as both the firing point and the target were inside buildings and there was no moon or star light. Without the illuminator I could see absolutely nothing. The illuminator was turned on and I could clearly see my dots. Firing several groups resulted in ragged holes with no shift in impact point. Just for kicks, the next day, I used the Bestsight to shoot groups in the daylight to see what would happen. I had to turn the magnification of the scope up more than at night for some reason but the ragged hole groups were in the same spot. My rat problem had been eliminated so I haven't been able to use the Bestsight for that application yet, but I am confident that when the next one comes along the Bestsight will be up to the task. ... show more
