This product will not catch big fish. First trip I took it out and caught a 13lb fish and it handled excellent, then the second fish I caught was 24lb and the rod broke slightly above the split in the top half. I've had this rod for almost 1 year. Used it at the beach many times and very satisfied. Just the other day while casting, the rod tip snapped in two. I wanted to do some surf fishing while on vacation with my family and this rod was perfect. I bought 2 10' and paired them with a Penn Pursuit III 4000 reel and they performed very well. I won't use these rods super often, so I can't really say much about long term durability. But I feel they'll hold up well for our annual trip to the beach. They came really well packaged with plenty of foam around each eye for protection. I removed the reels from them and placed the rods in the sleeves that were provided for transport rather than tossing them in the truck bed. After a TON of research, I opted to go for this rod, despite the fact that it was below my budget. I just didn’t think a rod this inexpensive would handle so well. Paired it up with a 5000 Penn Pursuit III, 40lb spider wire braid with 50lb fluero leader and couldn’t be happier! I can’t believe this good of a rod is so inexpensive. It’s lightweight with a somewhat narrow diameter. So it doesn’t feel like your casting with a tree trunk. That slimmer diameter makes for a pretty sensitive rod. Yet, it still feels strong enough to land just about anything. I am able to fling 1/2 kastmasters a country mile and heavier lures even further. Down here along the Sea of Cortez, you can run into just about any fish possible from shore. Giant grouper, yellowtail, big snapper, Spanish mackerel…you name it, it’s probably here and ready to fight. Both the Crevalle Jack and Tunny I reeled in this morning were the perfect test to see how it would handle. It did not disappoint. Just buy it, you’ll be glad you did! ... show more

Not a rod for fishing saltwater!!!! Yes, I soak all my rods and reels with fresh water after each use. The eyes started rusting after 1 months and only 3 times using it to surf fish. Get longer use from a $10 rod. Please note: customer service reached out to me and offered to send another rod. Reminded me of the way businesses used to be run. With good customer service.
