  • Great for Heat Shrink Electrical Connectors and Tubing
Size: Small
I bought this to use for heat shrink electrical connectors and heat shrink tubing. I had originally purchased a heat gun but found that it did not have what it took to heat shrink anything. A friend recommended this one and I have been very pleased. It heats up quickly and is very effective. Recommended. ... show more

  • Tiny, hot flame. Nice soldering attachment!
Size: Small
I bought this little torch to unfreeze a couple of broken 6-32 screws that were rusted into a 1/2"+ long threaded hole. The screws were 1/4" away from an expensive piece of tempered glass. This was too fine a job for an ordinary torch. I was delighted that the flame was about 3/16" in diameter at its base and less than 1/8" at the tip. I was able to get the screws red-hot without endangering the glass and was able to wiggle them out! The margins of the flame were easily hot enough to melt aluminum foil, which I was using for heat shielding, The center of the flame is much hotter, and I have every confidence it would melt gold or silver. The torch fueled up effortlessly (fuel sold separately) and lit right up. About 1 out of 4 clicks will not light the flame, but that's no problem. I LOVE the soldering tip, It attaches securely and there is a feature on the torch to interrupt the pencil flame so that the butane burns catalytically inside the tip, I haven't yet used it for soldering but look forward to it. I've read complaints that this torch will not hold much fuel, but I did not find that to be true. After fueling up, I probably burned the torch for 5 to 10 minutes without running out of fuel UPDATE: I've used the soldering tip for the first time. On high (+), it gets as hot maybe as a 30W soldering iron and takes a bit longer to heat up. I was a bit surprised it's not hotter. However, you still can't beat the convenience of not having to string up an electrical cord to get to an out-of-the-way place. :-) ... show more

  • Great ltttle torch!!
Size: Small
This is the third one I've bought. Love them. I'll be keeping this one in the "pocket" of my golf cart. One of the uses I have for them is to burn ends of paracord that I cut. I used to use a box of matches, but after getting wet, you may as well throw them away. I've used a variety of fuels in them and they are not picky. I also use them to heat the ends of arrows to remove inserts. I also use them to "fix" the ends of serving that I use on my bow strings. It's nice that they are smallish, stand by themselves and you can lock the flame on. One of the first things I do is to super glue the safety switch down, so that it simply ignites when I press the button. I'm 71 and have no kids to worry about. ... show more

  • perfect solution for my needs
Size: Small
The trick is to get the butane to go in, once you get the butane in the torch it works great. I thought I had it in at first but only a small amount of fumes and it didn't light then I got it to light and horrible flame. then went out. I figured out that the base was in the way of the nozzle and took the 2 screws out and then I was able to get the butane to go in and once I got it full, the fame was great and I put the soldering end on and you can't slide it on all the way leave just a little about 1/4 to 1/8 of an inch instead of all the way back. It won't light if you push it all the way on, but if you move it back off just that little bit it lights fine and melts the solder with ease. Thank you it's great. I think that may solve a lot of people's problems per reading their reviews ... show more

  • Flame and temp is more than I wanted but,
Size: Small
If I need to do a bigger job like copper pipe soldering its perfect, self-lights most of the time so far. sturdy base. The lowest setting is still too much for most of my needs but it takes so little butane to fill and lasts a long time. The temp is double what most micro torches produce. I like the ez unlock by just clicking the start/on button same used to light it and locking switch is a little cumbersome as i have to use one hand just to lock it while I'm holding the start button in. I take this as more a safety feature tho. This is no toy. ... show more

  • Kinda surprised how bad this tool was. "Update below" ,modified. Update again 11/22/18
Size: Small
I got this tool so to stop using my corded one and make it easier to solder computer parts. First time i used it, i noticed the gas volume nob was backwards, no biggy, also noted this tool is NOT MADE IN THE USA as stated in the add, its made in the good old taiwan, also no biggy, just pointing that out, at first it was working great, about half way through its first job, it cut off the gas flow, learned that if you touch the tip sometimes, it will cut off flow, OK not good, but got the board done. The other night, i found my ABS module in my Volvo had the classic solder joint cracks, so get the tool out and warmed it up and noticed the safety button was not working right, so i just stuck a tooth pick in it and fixed it, was very careful not to stress the tip so it wouldn't cut off, on the last solder i cut it off but the gas flow now would not cut off, tried flexing it a bit, but it just capt leaking. so there's my experience with this tool, hope there's a better one on here somewhere. EDIT UPDATE! So really wasn't going to go any further with it then that, but i got bored sunday and thought i'd see what i could do with it, there are two tiny phillips head screws on top, took those off and the main cover comes off, found out on the right side you'll see a little hose coming up from the gas bottle, there is a metal plate when you push in the trigger that moves the hose up to turn on the gas flow, this plate wasn't bent correctly and is getting jammed up when turning it off, i fiddled with it a bit, put the cover back on a few times, but never could get it just right (stopped leaking though) so i just left the cover off and now use a pair of pliers to shove the metal plate forwards and backwards, it now does not leak or cut off when using it, the igniter doesn't work anymore so need a cigarette lighter, but hey, i'm glad i have gas flow now, IDK at this point, it seems way better now that all that crappy safety stuff is off of it, and can actually be used as a torch now. Just seems like Bernz o matic tool would have been better than that, and the fact (hold on, let me caps locks this) AND THE FACT THAT IT STATES "THE PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED IN THE UNITED STATES!!!!!" IN THE AD, BUT SAYS MADE IN TAIWAN UNDERNEATH THE TOOL, just really burns my biscuits, it should stay at 1 star just for that. So there's the update, take it or leave it, i'm gonna go ahead and get a different one just to have, but i'll keep using this one as long as it works. 11/22/18 Update... So its still working good, no issues so far, just gotta keep a small lighter and pliers with it from now on. So with that said, it gets a 1 star in its stock configuration, but after modifications/safety junk removed, it gets a 5 star. ... show more
