  • Going strong
Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
I am ordering some for a friend and figured I’ll review. I bought these over three years ago and they are still going strong. Absolutely no issues other than the hues might be a little off between lights. An example is light blue between two of them is a little different which I’m OCD about colors matching especially when they’re in the same room but others may not notice. They were easy to set up and still going strong. ... show more

  • So so
Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
They work great - until they don’t. They where fine when first purchased and I had no issues , a week later I find that when I go to turn all of them on, some will have disconnected from the wifi and I have to reconnect which can be pretty frustrating when it constantly keeps happening I bought 2 packs of 3 as I needed 5 for one lamp -out of 5 bulbs that I have plugged in, 3 always work and always stay connected while 2 have a mind of their own When I originally purchased these one bulb out of one three pack did not work at all, but they easily exchanged me to ensure all bulbs worked. So for those reasons I have mixed feelings, if they all worked like the 3 of the 5 do -then I’d give 5 stars but since only 3 of the 5 work - I give an equal rating of 3 out of 5 stars ... show more

  • Decent Wifi Bulbs
Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
I've had other really expensive light kits in the past from other companies and honestly, these work just as well if not better. I can't speak to long term use, but these were pretty easy to set up. I'd recommend only turning on one at a time during set up at first because otherwise you'll confuse yourself. Luckily resetting a bulb to factory settings is super easy. There is no wonky bridge to connect like some other light kits and it costs about a third of the other kits. One thing I noticed that I wasn't really sure if it was going to be a problem is that the bases of the bulbs where all the actual electronics are do appear to get rather hot. No more hot than a regular old 60w light bulb would get, and the globe is still cool to the touch, but that may potentially be a point of failure in the future if the electronics keep getting cooked and aren't up to the task. I've seen other people say they last a while though and honestly at this price point if they last a year that would be pretty solid considering your other average bulbs don't last that long. LED bulbs obviously are known to last longer, but it is what it is if they don't make it that long. As for working with Alexa, they work great. You just have to set up the link in the app through a third party button and once you do you can name functions and such and they work or you can name each bulb and tell Alexa to turn it on, set it to a certain color, and so on. You can even set up routines with it. For instance I have a few different routines set up based on if I'm in the office working, just hanging out, or playing a game and I can just tell her the command and she sets the lights accordingly. There are some fun things you can do with them like set them to strobe or cycle through colors as well. One thing that I'm sure some people will notice is that the servers for these light bulbs external connections to the application are in China. That can potentially be a security risk issue for some folks, but if you're already using them with an Echo and you own a smartphone you likely aren't giving out any extra information that China doesn't already know about you. Unless of course you are afraid that China will learn what color you like your lights to be. You can set the app to "listen" and it will pulse the lights to music and there is a photo feature as well so there is a potential security risk there, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about it given that you own a smartphone and potentially an Echo if you are using that integration. The boring stuff I talk about probably annoys my Chinese Intelligence Agent who is responsible for listening to me anyway. ... show more

  • Great Product, Flexible, Easy to Install Lighting
Size: 3 Count (Pack of 1)
Update: It's about 4 months later than the original review. I now have bought two sets of theses and am thinking of buying another. I love these bulbs! And I love that the price had come down! Even in a WiFi rich suburban neighborhood, I have had 0 problems with losing connections to the bulbs. I think the trick is to never unscrew them or use a power switch on them. I am running both Alexa (for the basement) and Google Home minis (rest of house). I can control them from both. My daughter exclusively used Google Home for two bulbs in her room. I almost exclusively use Alexa in the basement. I personally use MagicHue app to control them from phone. It is just a rebranding of the one that comes with them, but I think it works better at integration. Ymmv. Original Review: Once I moved my office from my company's location into the computer area in my house, I noticed that while it was setup well for working on computers, but not much else. There wasn't much light. Since we had been slowly automating our home with Google Home, I decided i would take a chance on these relatively inexpensive WiFi bulbs and see if they work. They do. I can control them both with Google Home and Alexe through integrations provided for both. The control is not perfect on Google Home, but it allows me to do most settings. Where things get fun is when you use the app on your Android or Apple device. Beside the standard features of controlling color and brightness, the app allows you to setup groups and other controls. Even more fun is putting it into music mode. One music mode listens and responds to what it hears through your phones microphone. (Try playing a loud video game in that mode. It is super cool.) The other music mode uses your phone to source the music and control the lights at the same time. As money allows, I plan to integrate more of these into my home. Cost and performance wise, they are better than their major name non-wifi competitors. One quick, but important note. These only work on 2.4G wifi. I run two wifi routers, one for 5G and one for 2.5G. In order to do the initial setup and naming (very easy), I had to switch my phone to use the 2.5G router. Once the bulbs where configured, that app can control them from both 2.5 and 5G routers. ... show more
