The toilet seat was a replacement. I installed it myself. It was relatively easy to exchange the old seat for the new one. The slow close feature does work. Just lower the lid a bit, and it slowly shuts with no loud bang.

Great seat! Slow close feature is fantastic for maintaining a quiet environment. Super easy to install or reinstall with existing hardware. Took me less than one minute to install my seat with the existing hardware. Overall good quality. A bit high on the cost end but worth it.

Good seat, I like the wood & value. Made well, but they will loosen over time. I ordered two in January of this year (2023) and its October I had to order a new one. The one downstairs cracked!!! and the one upstairs is loosening making the seat move. No warranty on these. DO NOT LAST LONG

I purchased this in May 2023. It's (checks calendar) August 2024 and the seat cracked. Now, I have not gained any weight. (On the contrary, I've lost weight.) So it's a bit humbling when a seat just breaks on you while you are making use of the facilities. XD Of course, when you are reading reviews and you see a handful that shows it breaking, you just think "eh... a few will break. It's probably not a rampant thing." And then yours breaks in almost the identical spot as other reviewers and you realize the error of your ways. To be fair, there's another BEMIS model (Bemis 1500EC) I purchased for my daughter's bathroom. I got it in 2021 and it's still fine. I've used that bathroom myself and haven't destroyed hers so I can only assume I don't have rear that's not rated for BEMIS toilet seats. I still gave it 3 stars because aesthetically it's fine, easy to clean, and was super easy to install. So...back to the glamorous search of looking for a more robust toilet seat because we all know, no one wants to shop for toilet seats on the regular.
