  • Some days you're the frog, some days you're the monkey...
Product worked for me when I was in a jam with no A/C. Read on for the fun parts. If you need this product, you're probably a professional or you're a poor shmuck like me that has no A/C at the moment of puchase. This product saved my bacon as my wife was roasting in the summer sun with no A/C. I used this to remove the A/C FAN assembly from a 13 yr old AC motor. It was extra, extra stuck. Tips: They're all rated #1 because they all matter. 1) when you order this product and before it arrives, begin soaking the target in PB Blaster or your favorite penetrating oil. Lightly tap it with a hammer to vibrate the oil as deep as possible. Repeat every couple of hours until the wrench comes in. 1) The set screws that grip the fan assembly will slip if you do not tighten them very very well. 1) The set screws WILL loosen as you begin to apply pressure with the screw bolt. STOP and fix this to avoid damage to the fan assembly (or target to be removed) 1) AVOID lining up the set screws in line with your target set screw holes, as it slips a little here and there you can bugger your target and be unable to put set screws back in place on the new motor shaft. This can cost you a whole new fan assembly (or whatever part you're tugging on) 1) Clean, Sand, File and clean the shaft again in the path that the frozen part will travel down. Do this BEFORE you start moving that part. It will save lots of frustration. 1) Be patient, and remember to tighten those grabber set screws every couple of turns of the pressure screw bolt. Good luck. ... show more

  • Very poor quality product
first off, one of the set screws was so buggered on the end it would not thread, nor could it be fixed. They did include bolts of th same size, so I could use that as a replacement. Second, none of the tapped holes were tapped all the way and every hole had to be retapped so I cound use it. Third, all the tapped holes had burrs on inside of them, although you could see where they tried to deburr them by grinding the holes. Should a piece of this slag get into the threads when exiting, it can cause the threads on the set screw or the threads on the device to become damaged. And forh, the device is made up of a shaft with a ring around it and the set screw holes are tapped through them. This should be a closely fitted ring. Instead the outer ring is loosly fitted and they put a couple of tac welds to hold it in place. A better soultion would to be weld it all the way around. And last, the drive shaft (the pushing part) is made of a mild steel, which mushroomed on first use. This is designed to press down into the hardened steel of the motor shaft and has a point on it to keep it from drifting off to one side when tightening it. So much for using this tool a second time. I was able to get it to do its job, so for a home owner who may only use this once, it worked. If you are planning to use it more than that, spend a little extra and buy a better tool. In the end, you get what you paid for, and this was cheap. ... show more

  • Good product for the money!!!
I ordered this tool because of the price I didn't want to spend a lot of money because I would not probably use but one time. I decided to attempt to fix my HVAC Condenser fan motor myself. I tried for two days to remove the fan blade from the old motor to no avail. After checking on line I found out that you need a fan blade puller. I checked on Amazon and found this tool at a low cost but with some negative reviews. but because of the price I decided to try it. The center bolt was a little off center but I adjusted the screws that you tighten around the fan blade bolt. I then screwed down the center bolt and it worked like a charm. It is a heavy solid tool, not the best made but it works. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Center push screw too long for my carrier blower
The main reason I bought it is the price and the "get by tomorrow" option for this product. However the center screw was too long (or say the motor had a long shaft extending out). I had to cut it by half inch with an angle grinder. A lot of cutting was involved because the material was pretty hard. The 4-set screws is loose enough after i used wrench to work the way in and out - then I can fingers tighten them at the center position then use wrench to tighten them. Everything worked great after that. It's pretty heavy to and bigger than i thought. ... show more

  • Screw too long
I used this to remove my fan blower wheel from a motor shaft on a Rheems furnace. Not sure if tool was intended for this specific purpose - but I feel it should have been. The problem I encountered with the tool was that the provided center screw was too long. A portion of the screw doesn't have threads. And so, where the screw rested on the motor shaft wasn't far enough in to the tool to permit threading. If the screw threads extended farther down the screw, it would have worked for me. One solution (given by another reviewer with same issue) was to cut the screw. I opted instead to buy another screw ($6) - one with threads along its entire length. That allowed me to eventually get my blower fan off the motor shaft. But the need for the additional purchase is why I gave this tool only 3 stars. Also, one of the four set-screws wouldn't take the provided Allen key. ... show more

  • Not strong enough to rip through rust
Product was not strong enough to take off the fan that was rusted to the motor shaft. I had to cut the motor shaft and hit it with a hammer to get it out. The screws could not grip the fan blade casing. Basically the screw was weak and would deform against the blade casing, this would cause the puller to slide up the fan casing rather than push the motor shaft out. I am sure it would be fine if the motor shaft was not rusty. If you have a rusted on shaft you might want to try a different tool. ... show more

  • Works great but not sure it would be for commercial use.
Worked great to change my blower wheel. I own a lot of tools as I am an auto and truck mechanic. I needed this to change the blower wheel on the shop's ceiling mounted combo a/c furnace when I was changing the blower motor. It worked great but after just one use the tip of the forcing screw got very rounded and I can see how other components would wear out quickly. For the money, if you need it in a pinch and aren't going to use it daily, I think it's a great choice. I wouldn't count on it for daily professional use though. In that case I would buy a more expensive, more robust one. ... show more
