  • Odd cables will make user error more prone. Can make people think it's dead on arrival.
Size: 500W
This power supply is excellent—super quiet and comes with everything necessary. However, the included cable with a 24-pin on one side and a 24-pin + 8-pin on the other can be confusing. Many might mistakenly attempt to connect the 24-pin + 8-pin end to the motherboard and the 24-pin end to the power supply, which will not work. This is why the ends of the 24+8 pin side are zip-tied together; they should instead be plugged into the power supply under the ports labeled MB. Additionally, you need to use a separate 10-pin to 8-pin cable, connecting the 10-pin end to the power supply and the split 8-pin end to the motherboard. For a SFX-L power supply, where space is at a premium, using three separate cables can occupy valuable space. I am looking for aftermarket cables that are thinner and more flexible, but I have been unable to find this specific 24+8 to 24-pin cable anywhere. If anyone knows the name of this cable or where to get a more flexible and colored version, that would be incredibly helpful. Moreover, the manual would benefit greatly from including pictures of this setup to aid in proper installation and avoid confusion. ... show more

  • Quiet and Strong
Size: 500W
I used this in a mini ITX PC build. Just a quiet hum and plenty of airflow. Comes with all the wiring options you can possibly need.

  • Killed the motherboard I connected it to
Size: 600W
I debated posting this review under the product because I did purchase it through Amazon Warehouse so it was not a totally new item. But then I translated the one negative review and saw someone else had the same thing happen so thought it worth warning other potential buyers. Amazon Warehouse can always be hit or miss but I've usually had good luck and figure if the deal is good enough why not give it a shot since returns or so easy. As part of my recent upgrade frenzy bought 2 very nice Asus motherboards and they both are working great and came with most or all of the accessories (had everything I needed). Reason for this warning is that even though I haven't done hundreds of builds I've done enough that I'm not a total novice and I didn't know a bad PSU shorting out something on a board was really a thing. Luckily I didn't do the 'test' on a super pricey MB I just ordered. It was an older Gigabyte from when the i7s were first released but still is worth a couple hundred on the used market because it was considered to be one of the truly great overclocking boards from that era. Board had been in use and working perfectly a week earlier but when I plugged this PSU in it went dark. Plugged a known working PSU back into the board (tried 2 actually) and it would get basic power but acted like the 8 pin connector wasn't ... connected. So guess something shorted out related to that. Bought one of the cheap but well reviewed PSU testers from Amazon and after it arrived figured out how to use it on a known good PSU (2 actually) before trying it on the be quiet. When I tried it on the be quiet, just the main board connecter, the PSU clicked then powered off. Don't know if it was a built in protection in the PSU or just the sound of it shorting but, whatever it was, it didn't save my MB. The tester I bought for 15 bucks survived the experience though. Maybe this is something I should have known before but I'll be using that little gadget on any PSU I buy going forward ... just in case. At the 15 or so dollars they cost it's a no-brainer. ... show more

  • Sounds like a Subaru boxer engine
Size: 600W
I have 8 fans inside my case (2 cpu, 2, intake, 2 gpu, 2 exhaust) + the one from this PSU. The only fan that I can hear is the PSU. It's a very annoying sound that sounds like a Subaru boxer engine. Or like if you make a machine gun noise with your mouth. I shut down all my fans to see what was making that annoying noise, and sure enough the PSU was the only with a fan running. I set all my fans on 40%, and turned off the computer. Before turning the computer back on, I locked the Be Quiet PSU fan from spinning. Turned on the computer. Once it finished loading, all 8 fans were spinning at 50%, the Be Quiet PSU fan was halted, and the system was near dead silent. I released the PSU fan, and that annoying engine sound came back on. I see all these reviews saying that this PSU is so silent. I may have a bad unit. :( ... show more

  • Great little power supply
Size: 600W
Excellent quality small form factor power supply. Install was very easy, it’s definitely quiet and the power supplied has been stable. Cables are nice and clean though tight to the motherboard. Now for the bad news and why it gets four stars at this moment: It has stopped working suddenly after two months of usage which is odd, and I’ll update once I get the RMA sorted out. If the RMA process isn’t painful I’ll update the star rating again. I really do like the hardware and hope this was just a fluke. ... show more
