Bought this to replace a Schumacher that died on me. I have a Battery Tender Jr. that's worked great for years hopefully this charger will be no exception. Works great so far, only complaint is I wish it had a hook to hang it when surface areas can get hot or dangerous.

I've owned a couple of this brands battery tenders in the past. They've lasted years and always do the job. Bought this one as an upgrade and it's definitely easy to use. The charging capability is also impressive as it's rated double what my old one is. It works on standard batteries. I have not tried it with Lithium as yet. The more I research, I am not convinced that Lithium do what they claim or last all that long.

    • The original is the best. Worth a little more $ in the long run.
I west through 2 cheaper models of battery maintainers trying to save money, but both had problems. I have since bought 2 different models of the original "Battery Tender" and both have been flawless. Worth a few dollars more.

With COVID-19, I have been working from home since March 2020 and I should have known better. If you leave your car sitting for long periods of time, the battery will die. And of course, mine did. $850 later, this might have been solved with a battery tender. You don't want to cheap out, either. This is a sort of trickle charger, but it shuts off. I know it's charging by the amber light and then it goes green (you can also hear it charging). When the light goes green, it switches to a "float mode" so that it doesn't overheat. Once I read through the instructions, it was great. I've never had to jump my battery, so thinking through what to do in what order is really the only thinking you have to do. The only wish I had with this is that it had a longer cord. It looks like most people have the same feedback. Most drivers do not part right against the wall of their garage, so having another few feet would have been great. ... show more
