  • Perfect for brown hair
I have been using this and it works perfect. Doesn’t make it look like you have white/grey hair like many do when you have dark. If your hair isn’t dirty I use it for volume and it looks great. And it smells good too

  • I. LOVE. This stuff. And I've tried them all.
My hairdresser has been yelling at me for years for washing my hair daily. He told me about dry shampoo, and that I should use it, but I just couldn't get the hang of it/get over the "feeling of clean" that I got from washing my hair every day. About three years ago, I chopped off all my (dead, dry, brittle) hair and started growing it again from my chin, and slowly started whittling down the number of times a week I washed my hair. My hair is now past my bra strap in the back, shiny, strong, and I wash my hair once every 5 - 7 days, and the ONLY reason is because of this stuff. I have fine, thick hair (meaning a lot of it, but the individual strands are fine) so the "bodyfying" effect in this stuff is great. I have very dark brown (but not black) hair. First I used Tresemme, Salon Grafix, BedHead, Big & Sexy, Suave (though I do LOVE their dry conditioner), the old school L'oreal stuff, the "Not Your Mother's" dry shampoo, cornstarch, baking soda, cocoa powder... but I keep coming back to this stuff. Here's why: 1. The TINTED powder. For someone with dark hair, my beef with dry shampoo has always been the greyish whitish nasty dull residue that builds up in my roots that while my hair doesn't look greasy, does look like I rubbed ashes in my hair. This stuff, with the dark tint, absorbs the oil and keeps my hair the dark color it should be. 2. It "poofs" things up. Like another reviewer, I'll sometimes use this in my clean hair, just a squirt at each temple, to add some extra oomph. But when I'm using it on days 2, 3, 5, whatever... it keeps my hair lifted (does that make sense?) and feeling fresh. Before, other dry shampoos would keep it from looking greasy, but I'd still lose the body after day 2, so I'd end up wearing my hair up after the second day. This stuff, I can get 4 or 5 days of down styles. 3. The feeling. The cold "psssht" when you spray it on your scalp has a nice cool rush that helps your scalp feel clean, even if it isn't. I don't mind the smell, though some reviewers seem to. Tips: I wear a shower cap, and then when I'm out of the shower, I use a round brush and my blowdryer to quickly (we're talking 30 seconds) dry my roots where the water seeped under the cap when I washed my face. Then I use quick little blasts on my whole hairline around my face. This is enough for the next day after washing, but on days 2 or 3, I'll separate my hair into sections about 2" wide and spray there, focusing mainly on my natural part. Then I pull my hair back out of my face and WAIT. Don't brush it right away! I usually do my makeup, or get dressed, or make a cup of coffee, whatever, but let it sit for a minute. When I'm ready, I BRUSH it through my hair, not rub with my fingers. WARNING: This stuff DOES leave a dark powdery residue on fingers if you rub it in. It washes right off, it's never stained any of my clothing, but it is gross if you get it under your nails and then don't notice until later. I use a paddle brush to distribute it, "scrubbing" lightly, but not so hard to tangle my hair. I think this helps with the lift. Then I round brush style my hair and boom - clean, shiny, voluminous hair. Sometimes when I roundbrush my hair near the scalp, there will be little dark dusties from this stuff, but I just brush them off with a makeup brush. I actually love my hair on the second day more than the day I wash my hair now; it styles better and holds the style better. If you have long hair, I'd recommend a dry conditioner after the first couple of days, if you use a lot of heat styling like I do. Helps keep your ends hydrated. Bottom line, I love this stuff. I have long hair, and one can usually lasts me about a month. Not as cost effective as just washing your hair more, but for the time it saves me every day (washing my hair adds 45 minutes with washing, conditioning and blowdrying and styling to my morning routine), it's totally worth it. I even keep a can in my gym bag for post workout lifts, if I need them. ... show more

  • Blows you away
this has a really strong spray. It does the job though with very little product. Make sure to wash your hands after applying because they might look like you just tried to dye your hair brown. Don't worry it washes off all the way with a little soap. This product is probably one of the best I have used! Adds volume and refreshes hair. The smell is light and not overbearing. I worried about the product getting on my clothes. So far so good! I am no longer worried. ... show more

  • Works well, but may tint skin or nails if not used with care.
I'm a little late to the dry shampoo trend, but I've been meaning to buy/try a dedicated product for the past few years and hadn't gotten around to it until now. Prior to buying this product I was using plain baby powder dusted at my roots when I needed to refresh my hair and extend a blowout. It worked satisfactorily, but I also had to dust carefully because over-use would leave a visible white powder residue in my dark hair that was unattractive and, at least to me, rather disgusting. When I came across this product for brunettes, I thought it was finally time to try a genuine dry shampoo. Hands down, this product out-performs my standby baby powder technique. I ordered right before leaving on a vacation that involved hours spent cycling in warm weather. I was able to bike all day (while sweating profusely) and then avoid washing/blowing out my hair before dinner by using this product. I felt refreshed and my hair both looked and smelled clean, saving me time and effort. It seems to wash out easily in the shower, too. The only caveat to my glowing review is that the brown tint, while ideal for my dark hair, is less than ideal for my fingernails and light skin. Twice my husband had to tell me I had dark smudges on my forehead from spraying my hair indirectly . . . . but they did wipe off my skin easily. Of slightly more concern, my (natural) nails are long-ish and had a french manicure that was lightly colored. The powder lightly stained my nails from touching my hair to style it. Washing my hands didn't seem to remove the tint completely and it left my manicure looking slightly grimy like the top coat was yellowish or beige instead of clear. It was a minor inconvenience to me and wouldn't even have been an issue if I had been wearing a darker nail color. Neither problem is enough of a concern for me to rethink buying the product. I might be willing to try an untinted dry shampoo, but overall I'm really happy with this one and I would recommend it to others with no compunctions. ... show more

  • This leaves a residue on your skin
Although this sprays out slightly white, it does have more of a brown tint to it. The problem is if you touch your hair, it leaves your fingers looking dirty.
