    • It Works But I Don't
This thing is a wonder! It reaches deep into the soil, then just give it a twist and up come the rocks and hard clay soil that have ruined my gardening life and my back. Two things you should know: I used it on soil I had already loosened by hand. I just wanted something to finish the job with an extra oomph. And it had a lot of oomph. The other thing is that I am 73 years old with osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. So . . . well . . . it works but I don't work so well any more. It's a sturdy piece though. Takes a lot of strength. My project was to clear off the grass & weeds on a steep hillside where I wanted to plant wildflower seeds. I don't have a tiller, and it would have been too steep to use one there anyway. This tool works! Made short work of the very established roots. It's lightweight, but held up. I'll use it again next year to clear off more area for more seeding! ... show more

    • Great for turning and loosening soil
In full disclosure, I purchased this gardening tool to use for turning my compost pile and I have yet to use it for that purpose. Instead, I’ve used this tool to turn and mix soil before planting my garden vegetables and mixing soils in large containers/planters. I’ve also found it useful for loosening soil where I plan to plant something new in an established flower bed. I’m 5’2” and feel that the height and size of this tool works great for me. When using this tool I at no time have had any complaints or concerns regarding the quality or weight of it. The tool itself is soild but If you want this tool to work properly, you better have soft dirt from the get go. It want break through anything hard.
