I needed an elevating shelf for my portable monitor, which is the screen I use to watch/listen to my entertainment and music while I work from my other screens. This shelf seemed like it would be an ideal fit for the bill of what I was looking for. It arrived in unassembled pieces with all necessary screws and I was able to assemble it without any hiccups, which is a miracle for me as I usually encounter assembly challenges. It has brackets in the back so you can mount it on a wall, if you wish, and have a nice floating shelf. I have it on my desk for now; it is pretty narrow and doesn't take up much of the depth surface area of my desk. It is a versatile design and can pretty much work in any room of your home, as it has good utility. It is made of pine and is very good quality and is sturdy. It appears to be water resistance too, which supports its versatility and ability to be placed anywhere in your home, possibly even outdoors (but I'm not 100%sure on that, so don't hold my feet to the fire on that!). I have a network center where all security camera, Ethernet cables, routers, DVR, etc comes together and it was starting to get out of hand. Desperately needed to organize the area and this definitely helped me do that. It is designed with this in mind so the cuts on the wood allow for plenty of cables to run up behind and there are slots cut out throughout to allow for the proper ventilation. The wood appearance looks pretty decent and it was super simple to put together. It definitely helped me accomplish the organizing of all the cables and I am using it to house a Netgear 16 port gigabit switch and a Lorex Fusion HD DVR hub, along with my Starlink router. I have mixed feelings about this shelf- I like the look of the wooden shelves themselves, but I don’t like that the four silver screw heads aren’t recessed or covered in some way. It makes the shelf look less polished. I love the design of the air vents cut into the top shelf and think they will be super helpful when using it with my laptop. Unfortunately, when I put the shelf together, I got to the last screw and as I turned the screw, the pre drilled hole split and separated the wood. It’s on the bottom left, back corner, so I have simply removed the screw for now. I’ll either find a narrower screw that will work or glue the pieces together. This may end up being a desktop laptop shelf I stead of a wall shelf. ... show more

    • Might be too nice for my garage?

I installed this in my garage. I recently mounted my TV to the wall and got rid of the "classroom style" media cart I've had my TVs on the past 20 years. Unfortunately, without a cart I've had to put my Wi-Fi router and TV streamers on my workbench. The shelf was easy to assemble and mounted on the wall just fine. This is the first time I've mounted a "floating shelf" to a wall. The shelf holds my wireless access point, TV streamer, and remotes just fine. I was tempted to use the bottom shelf to put some tool batteries on it but with a 20 lb limit I didn't want to take chances. The shelves are vented for air circulation, but depending on size also a good way to thread cables through to your devices. Overall, I'm pleased with these shelves but they might be a little out of a place on the side wall above my workbench and is nicer looking compared to the other "decor" in the garage. ... show more

This is a smaller floating shelve, I'm talking like hold a notebook laying down on it small and that is about it. Being that it was used to replace a glass entertainment center though, it works and doesn't look horrible. The screws are a bit odd for the piece to be put together, but it is simple, instructions are straightforward, and it takes less then 5 minutes to assemble. ... show more
