It's already assembled on arrival. Just need 4 screws with wall anchors. I did use my own self driving ones although they provide with standard ones. The product is heavy and definitely needs good support! There was a strange smell when I first opened it, but it did go away within 10 mins. The drawer slides really well and smoothly. Using it in my front entry that doesn't have a defined space and putting 2 pairs of shoes under. Makes for great night stand as well for small spaces.     • Well made, bit heavy...not true 'floating" shelf
My understanding may be incorrect, but I associate "floating" shelf with hidden metal brackets that slide inside the shelf. This makes it easy to install as you first fasten the lighter brackets, then slide the heavier shelf onto the bracket. In this case, there are no brackets, only screws holes at the rear and some drywall anchors. This means you have to hold the heavy item up with one hand while trying to screw in the fasteners. This is awkward, and also a bit tricky to hold level while marking for the anchors. A simple paper template would have helped. I'm a retired handyman so no problem for me; someone with less strength or experience would do well to stack up some boxes to support the shelf while installing. ... show more
