  • Rear battery connection self-destructed
The connection between the battery and the holder is comprised of two female receptors (in photo) and two male plugs on the holder. The connection gets stuck after riding the bike and the expected jostling. After removing the stuck battery several times, the male plug was pulled out and loosened and ultimately got hot and melted the female receptor. This is after 4 months of use. The battery no longer charges the motor or controller so I have spent $400 on another rear battery. I conclude the battery connection is a poor, "rinky-dink" design that is not very durable. Also, there is absolutely no customer support information. I was unable to seek any warranty or ask for a replacement purchase. You will need extension cables for the handle bar brake lever and the shift sensor if you add one. But other than that it is a wonderful addition to my recumbent bike. There are a lot of wires to try to organize, but it is quiet and works beautifully.

  • Fun & Powerful Motor From Honorable & Trustworthy Seller
I've only had my kit installed a couple of weeks and we've had a run of bad weather but I've been able to get out on a couple of rides now that included some gravel mountain roads and single track trails and I am having a blast! I'm able to ride up hills that given my current physical fitness level I would not be doing otherwise. I'm getting used to the extra weight on the bike and it's becoming less of an issue for handling. Seller was super responsive and worked fast to get me a new kit after the shipper lost the first one. Every question or issues I've had they have been great to work with and typically responded to my messages in less than a day. I installed the motor kit on a Diamondback El Oso Uno and it went okay, there were some things to figure out. Now that it's all installed it's working great. I ordered the 100mm bottom bracket, and it works but because the bike supports up to a 5" tire the rear triangle (chain & seat stays) are wider than some bikes. This made it so I had to space the motor to the right (drive) side more than anticipated. The extra spacing made it so I can't use the second lock ring on the left side, it's holding but I'm checking it frequently, I'll probably add some loctite here soon once I'm confident in everything staying put. If I knew this before hand I would have ordered the 120mm bottom bracket. This also made it so I had to space the bolts on the left side that mound the motor to the mounting plate. Because of the bottom bracket spacing issue the chain line is less than optimal, but it works. I used an old reflector bracket mounted to the chainstay and a clamp to make a chain guide to make sure the chain runs onto the front chain ring in a straight line no matter what gear I'm in; it's only the lower gears (larger on back) that cause the bad angle. Power is amazing! I got the 52V 14.5 amph batter and am loving it. I see the motor hit 1300+ watts of power at times, it's amazing! This thing will pull me up some amazingly steep hills on throttle only. Range is still unknown, however, I've been on a couple of 12 mile rides and still had around 50V left, the computer estimates the range and it fluctuates a lot depending on how steep the road/trail and how much I pedal. I feel like I could get close to 30 miles on mostly flat terrain and about 20 miles on some serious hills. We'll see, I'll update once I know. I would definitely recommend this kit to anyone with some technical and mechanical know how, otherwise I'd suggest you get someone to do the install for you, there's some things that are not simply plug-n-play. ... show more

  • Awesome motor, but Issues after only three months

This is probably the highest and best middle drive for an E bike out there. It is fast more or less easy to install the hardest part was understanding that the Left side paddle lock nut has reverse threads, So getting it off was quite time consuming. The only issues I have with this is that because this has so much torque it is moving slightly on my bike and is wearing off part of the aluminum frame where it is mounted. I wish there was something that could be done to stop that. Also, having gone down from a 52 V eight amp hour battery to a 48 V 13 amp hour battery the computer and display screen thing has settings to alternate voltage I have set the settings for the voltage back down to 48 V but the system seems to think it’s still at 52 which drains my battery more than it should. I have reset it multiple times and even forced shut down the system but I cannot seem to get it to realize that it is 48 V I hope that this can be resolved soon.
