  • Cute

My home gets swarmed by ladybugs during the first warm days of spring and last warm days of fall. I have heard about these bug hotels and am hopeful it works as I’ve heard. I just put it out a day ago and I have found a few bugs already investigating it. The house is about 12 inches tall and a couple of inches deep. It’s very light and has plenty of hiding spots for the many ladybugs that visit my home. ... show more

  • It's nice to look at and friendly to beneficial bugs, perfect for the garden
Pattern Name: B
I liked this product's idea more than anything. I live on a large farm and we love our flowers so I was attracted to this bug house. When it arrived, it was nice to look at but there were about 10 broken pieces of bamboo halves rattling around behind the wire netting. One or two, I get but that many? Otherwise, I like it and it seems practical. I would have liked it more if there weren't so many broken bamboo pieces. ... show more

  • Cute, but flimsy
Pattern Name: A
The design is cute on this bee house, but not very well constructed. I've had to reinforce it with more nails and a bit of wood glue. I will still use it, it just isn't ready to go out of the box.

  • Exactly as pictured
Pattern Name: A
Well I put it up but there are no inhabitants yet. The wood is lightweight and seems pretty cheap but if it does the job, I will be happy. I did screw a hook into the top so that I would be able to hang it instead of only the back mounting. I sprayed it with some bee lure but no activity yet. Hopefully come spring there will be some action. ... show more

  • Cute!
Pattern Name: B
It's a cute, albeit petite, bug hotel, but there is no mount hook or cord loop or anything attached to be able to hang it on anything. I'll have to either screw something in or hot glue some twine or something. All of the bamboo fell out of my last bug hotel after a year (random Aldi purchase), so I'm hoping this one holds up a little better. I mean, it's untreated wood out in the elements, so my hopes aren't that high. It's also not expensive so not a big deal if it only lasts a year. I like the different types of "compartments" for different kinds of bugs. Only minus a star because I have to add my own way of mounting it. Other than that I can't wait to see what takes up residence! ... show more

  • This is quality wood

This is made sturdily and is extremely detailed

  • Doesn’t come with a hanging mechanism
Pattern Name: B
This looks really great, but before you get this you should know that this doesn’t come with any built in way of hanging it. I had this sitting around inside for a couple of weeks before I could figure out how to hang it up outside, which I found disappointing. I ended up drilling some screws through the middle slat and using a wire to secure it to my fence. I am hopeful that this will stand the test of time; the product description says this is fir wood and that it is painted with a “non-toxic and odorless protective paint”, which makes it weatherproof. So far it has made it through a few rain storms. I’m excited to do my part to give the mason bees and other solitary pollinators a helping hand! ... show more

  • A little pricey for the size, but overall a nice bee house
Pattern Name: B
My mom had gotten one of the Lidl bee houses a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it but hers was getting a little worse for the wear so I got her this one to use next spring. It's quite a bit smaller than her old one and I'm not sure how useful the parts that are caged in will be for the kind of bees (mostly smaller wasps) that we have but I'm interested to see if they'll use them. The construction of it feels decent and I'm hopeful that it will hold up well outside on my mom's covered porch. ... show more
