This came in its original that was not even taped up up at all. My granddaughter could see what it was, and items were falling out of the box.

    • A great set for young sewers
This set is so fun, my kids were thrilled with the absolute abundance of fabrics, trims, charms, etc. There are four mannequins for fitting. It comes with scissors, measuring tape, seam tape, pins, needles, threads, everything you need. My only problem with it is that there is very little instruction for using the included patterns and the patterns themselves are not patterns for any of the extravagant designs on the box or merchandising photos. Could use better instructions for using patterns and maybe some patterns for making the ballgown style dresses in the merchandising pictures. ... show more

My daughter is 8 and this set is perfect for her. At 8, kids are really good with details and more complicated projects. This set is so fun. There's several different dress patterns and a barbie sized dress forms, 4 dress forms actually. There's tons of fabric to choose from. Tons of trim to choose from. Tons of beads and sequins and stuff to attach. Appears to come with everything needed. Needles, thread, double sided tape, glue, pins there's also crowns and other jewelry and tons of barbie shoes! Good for beginners but not really if they are maybe 6 or 7 (ish) and younger. Don't really need dress making skills but will need finely tuned motor skills or a helper. I love that it is really actually making a real dress that barbie can actually wear completely created by you, from sketching it out with the included pad and markers or pencils til the last little bow is attached and of course barbie is prefectly accessorized. I also thought it was really cool that there are materials and instructions for what are clearly some Disney princess dresses. There's Elsa s dress and a Minnie mouse style dress. The box has a dress pictured that is Cinderellas pink dress that she intended to wear to the ball but was destroyed by sisters. There are probably others I just haven't realized yet. The only thing is I've never made a dress before or seen it done and the instructions read like less then perfectly translated English. Couldn't figure it out now but once I am making one I will figure it I'm sure. I was confused by stuffing the ends into the back but think it holds it in place while you sew it up. Then hopefully easily comes off. Other issue would be that dress form standing still and sturdy. I will probably hot glue them to the table or piece of wood to hold it steady but still be able to turn easily. We haven't made one yet but I am really looking forward to sitting down with my kiddo and making a couple of new dresses for barbie. ... show more

I had never seen anything like this before and I thought it was such a cool idea to create an activity kit! My niece and I had a blast creating our own custom designs together. I think she actually has a knack for sewing as she picked up on the process pretty effortlessly. She’s also a perfectionist, so she took her time and was very proud of the final result. I love all the fabric and accessory decorations. It really did feel like we could create whatever we wanted! May have to try a full size project next, with my help of course! ... show more
