I live in an area with very heavy deer pressure, and each winter I need to cover shrubs like holly or rhododendron or even those will get eaten. In the past I've used burlap, which works but it is a bit of a pain to install. These plant cover bags are much easier, going on easily over the shrubs in just a minute or two. The material appears durable enough for at least one winter and it did not tear or snag on sharp branches or holly leaves. The sizing is not ideal in my view. I purchased the 47.2x70.8" version, and I almost wish the ratio was reversed. Few shrubs are over four feet high, but the width can be greater in mature specimens. I used these on some smaller shrubs, so there is extra material at the base. There is a drawstring provided, but that may not even be necessary. One potential problem could be mice or moles making a home in the extra material at the base and perhaps gnawing on the shrub while they are there. It would probably be a good idea to shake out the material at the base once in a while, or at least until snow comes. As far as avoiding wind burn or winter kill, I think these will also be effective. The material is very similar to some landscape fabric, so it will breath to some degree yet block wind. Overall I'm pleased with the product and I would just recommend paying close attention to the sizing for your application. ... show more

Easy to use. Reusable from 1 season to the next. Definitely worth buying. My Fig Tree and I live in NJ. This is like a plant condom. It's breathable fabric that helps protect it from freezing weather, cold winter wind, and catching a disease due to lowered resistance from harsh weather. Using protection for wintering plants is an important part of taking care of your plant's health. Think of this as a large pillow case that you slip over your shrub/plant/small tree. After placing it over the plant you draw it tight at the bottom using the drawstring. Other brands of plant covers use a zipper instead of a drawstring. I didn't choose the zipper type, because if the zipper fails, it's worthless. I also got the the large 70.8" X94.4" size so I can use it for multiple seasons as my plant continues to grow. I've spent 3 years, caring for and coddling this plant and didn't want the effort to go down the drain if the fig tree dies from winter weather. My area has yet to experience a hard freeze this year, however the last few years have been detrimental to several plants and small fruit trees that are planted in the ground. Using tarps and blankets help a bit, but the since some of the plants and trees are quite large, trying to wrap tarps around the trees and large plants can be a challenge. This year I am hoping that the chore of covering the trees and plants will be easier by using plant covers. The Avalution 3 Packs Plant Covers Freeze Protection, 70.8" X94.4 that I ordered seem like they will fit the trees and plants that I intend to cover. These bags are plenty large, seem well made, and are much lighter than the tarps I have used in the past, so they will be easier to work with. The only tricky part is that these bags do not have zippers, so I will need to tie the tree branches together before I can slip the cover over it. I am looking forward to using these freeze protection covers this year in hopes that my trees and plants will have a more fruitful summer. If these bags help my small tree and plants, I will likely purchase several other size bags for the other plants. ... show more
