I bought this to vacuum down a new mini-split air conditioner I installed myself. I've never done this before, so I was pretty nervous, but after attending a few University of You Tube video classes and making some notes, everything went just fine. It was easy to use and did a great job. It's a great tool for the money for a DIYer. I am very pleased with the suction power this thing has. Just a note....it needs oil and it isn't supplied with the pump, so order a quart when you order the pump...also, they use oil (even the really expensive ones, it's their nature) so you'll need to add oil from time to time and also change it out, so the more you use it, the more oil you'll need to have on hand....just say'n'. ... show more

    • Great Quality to Price Ratio!
The media could not be loaded. I used this to evacuate the a/c system on my car. In less than a minute, it had created a vacuum around -28 inches of Hg. I made sure to follow the instructions on breaking the pump in. Surprisingly, they recommended running the pump without oil for just a few seconds to make sure it’s operational. After that, it just a matter of adding the oil included in the package and then running the pump for a minute to get it fully lubricated. I hooked it up to my car’s a/c system and ran it for continuously for 60 minutes. The pump never overheated (it was 98 F in my garage) and it never got noisy. It worked flawlessly and I am very satisfied, especially at the price point. For those reviewers that couldn’t get a vacuum below -22 inHg, I had the same problem. It turned out my manifold gauge set had a leak. Once I bought a new gauge set, the pump got the vacuum to the desired level. This pump also has a filter on the exhaust port to absorb any gas emissions that I’ve seen other pumps produce. ... show more

Can't beat the price, easily and quickly pumps residential AC systems down to 150 micron. It has a filter for the oil mist coming out the exhaust, so it doesn't end up with oil all over the case. It says it has a backflow prevention design, but doesn't come right out and say it has a check valve, so I keep an eye on it to make sure the power doesn't go off. Mine came with a small bottle of pump oil, just enough to fill it. Sounds like some people don't receive that. ... show more

For anyone who requires that tool which won’t get extremely heavy use, this compact - affordable vacuum pump fits the bill. Well built, easy to use vacuum pump will pull down your A/C system adequately so you may successfully charge your system for proper operation.

A fine pump, just make sure to take off the cap from the exhaust vent before turning it on, I used this pump on my Honda and it pulled a nice vacuum and allowed a successful system recharge.

    • Crap product don't buy!
Has like no power at all. Struggles to pull and really goes super slow to get to max. It's half as strong as the 1/4 HP one I had before. The thing also smokes like crazy even though I'm properly topped off with new oil. It vibrates across the table and is super loud and doesn't sound right.
