Prior to this purchase I had been using a bug deflector from Weather Tech on my 2017 Chevy Colorado Z71...this is a huge upgrade. After a couple years of use the weather tech deflector had worn down the paint on my hood due to movement during travel. The thing would flop around and shake while driving causing the deflector to rub against the hood. This AVS Areoskin II is very secure! The adhesive runs the entire circumference of the deflector creating a super bond. The Areoskin II isn't gonna come off or move at all. The design is also very clean and the look is rugged. Spend the few extra bucks and gets something that's going to enhance your truck, instead of harming it. I would strongly suggest this product. The only thing I would mention is that it's important to take your time installing this product. The adhesive is strong. Once it's in place it's not gonna move so you get one shot to get it right. That's not a negative at all but rather a helpful tip. About 1/2 inch of the raised edge of the aeroskin II deflector can be seen from the drivers seat but it doesn't bother me at all and I'm sure that little edge is gonna shoot them bugs right over my truck. This shield does a good job of deflecting bugs and protecting the front of the hood without being in the way. I like the black plastic appears since it matches the factory fender flares, my nerf bars and the bed top protector rails.The instructions were quite clear and the adhesive works very well. I'm knocking a star off because the edges were a bit rough (looks like squeeze-out from the mold that wasn't cleaned up) and the top of the shield is so well adhered to the hood that it creates a pool of water on the upper edge every time it rains. This leads to water/leaf spots.They should have left a small gap to allow for drainage. ... show more

    • Requires extensive effort to install. Does not fit properly without modification!!

This item does not fit according to the instructions found online. The online example is completely different from the actual item. Had to trim portions of the under hood weather seal to mount the defector. The mounting screws are too short when using the supplied plastic washers. The mounting tabs with the two sided tape installed are bent at the incorrect angles causing the tabs to easily crack when tightening the screws. I repaired the tabs and completed the installation. With the modifications, the deflector looks OK. Someone from AVS should look at this now!! ... show more

I chose this deflector/protector after having one on my previous 2017 Colorado for 7 years. It stood up well and prevented a number of small stone chips to the hood paint and even deflected a few stones that may have otherwise hit the windshield. I also like the sculpted aero appearance. Just follow the enclosed instructions, prep the hood surface well by wiping it down two or three times along with using the adhesion promoter. I suggest wiping it down on only one direction for each pass of wipe down. This reduces the chance of redepositing anything you already wiped off in each pass. I also used some CRC MAF Flow cleaner as a last wipe down. That is safe and leaves absolutely no residue from soap or left over wax or polish. I also found it helpful to pop the hood open, place a long board under the hood edge covered with a piece of cardboard. This will aid to steady the deflector while installing and align both outer edges to the hood properly. ... show more
