I love the lush green look on these ferns. From a distance, it’s hard to tell they’re artificial plants. They look very full and realistic. The set came with a lot of them which is much better value than what I paid for my other ones locally. The ferns can flex a bit and it looks better when fluffed up. You can also put more per vase as an alternative. I recommend getting an electric duster and just blast the fern outdoors if they need cleaning. This is a big bag of 40pcs plastic Boston Fern picks. Price seems to come out to approx <$1 each (cheaper than the dollar store these days!). These are pretty sparse looking picks on their own. You really do need several together to make it look full and bunchy. The plastic leaves are a ‘shiny’ two-toned variegated [slightly unnatural] green color. The plastic on these is really “soft” and “different”—closest thing I can think of is like “plants for a fish tank.” The leaf branches themselves are not wired, but they are fed ‘onto’ a wired stem with a “budded” tip. So, you ARE able to bend these open & into specific directions. Nice! I don’t think these are terrible, for the right use. For indoors, [IMO] I would stick with more of a silk-type variety, BUT, for an outdoor planter, these could be very cute…and forever green! Especially at a distance. Real ferns can be difficult to care for and messy when the lil’ leaves start shedding. This can be a good solution. A bit of “easy” greenery to brighten up your yard. I would say this bag is big enough for one large, oversized planter, or two medium pots (& maybe some left over, depending how full you bend them out?). You can also find some good styling ideas online too! I may even try to use these right into the ground on the shaded side of my house where nothing likes to grow, but could use some “fullness” to hide some window wells. I think they might be a good solution there (instead of just hostas everywhere). Then all I need to do is hose them down once in a while and instant greenery!! ... show more

Well it's not a lifetime but probably way overdone if you want one fern. There's 40 pieces and each one basically represents a leave group with a dark to light green transition, like 5-6 fronds of the fern together. So take 5-6 fronds and multiply it by 40. You can make several fake hanging ferns if you like or interior decor. One star off because, while we all know they're not natural, they do stink in the original package. There's a strong chemical / paint smell that I had to air outside before it would go away. It's like a 3-4 out of 10 in the stinko measure, with a 10 means you have a pet skunk. They look realistic and work for decor around the house, just let the 'natural ferns' air outside first. ... show more
