    • Dead less than 90 days after purchase - Fixed by Audeze
Just over a month later, I got my headphones back from Audeze. They sound great, weight still not an issue for me. I added two stars to the review just because the headphones work again, and sound great, but it cost me another $60 out of pocket to insure and ship them back to Audeze. I don't think these headphones have been worth the money and aggravation. I now feel like I have to absolutely baby these headphones to ensure the drivers don't fail. The folks at Audeze were very nice. They responded to my ticket immediately, took them days to get me an RMA number, though, then a bit less than 3 weeks to do the repair. In the meantime, I bought a pair of Focal Elegias because they are deeply discounted currently. Not bad at all. The Elegias are aluminum and plastic with dynamic aluminum and magnesium drivers, but the build quality seems excellent. LCD 2 Closed is all steel, leather and what seems like some sort of hard resin (like a bowling ball shell) for the backs, with planar magnetic drivers. Materials seem more premium with Audeze just because there's so little injection molded plastic, but Focal definitely put more effort into design, build, packaging, and accessories. Two totally different driver types, but they are both closed back and serve the same purpose, so I'm going to compare them. This is a base model V8 American muscle car vs a nimble turbo 2.0L Euro coupe with some options. Being closed backs, these headphones can only sound so open. The LCD 2 Closed has a softness behind the sound, like standing in a large recording booth. The Elegia is more like a small auditorium with a bit of a sharpness around the edges. I think the LCD 2 Closed sounds better in general, but only just, and not $400-$500 dollars better. Overall the Audeze LCD 2 Closed sounds very natural, and although they resolve low frequencies well, they aren't the "basshead" planar headphones some people online claim they are. The Elegias seem faster, definitely pack more punch on the bottom end, and sound more technical. The Elegias, are great, but can sometimes benefit from a little EQ to take the edge off. Elegias are light and not at all uncomfortable, but even with the weight, I like the feel of the Audeze LCD 2 Closed more; probably because of the pads. If you want a smooth, natural, nicely resolving headphone that sounds decently open for a closed back, and you have a thick neck and a good headphone amp, the Audeze LCD 2 Closed is great. But if want something that sounds a bit faster and more lively, look at the discounted Focal Elegias and save yourself a huge chunk of money. Original review below I don't recommend buying anything from World Wide Stereo or buying Audeze products. The right driver on my headphones died less than 90 days after I received them. World Wide Stereo told me to contact Audeze, Audeze says contact the seller. Since neither want to take responsibility for this product, I contacted Amazon who says they can get a replacement. Amazon places an order with World Wide Stereo. About a day later, World Wide Stereo cancels the replacement request claiming lack of availability, even though they are still taking new orders for these headphones through Amazon. I contact Amazon again, they offer to refund the purchase price, but since World Wide Stereo is responsible for the refund, they are going to apply a 180 dollar restocking fee. A restocking fee, on broken headphones. I'm now trying again to get Audeze to do something about this, but will never deal with World Wide Stereo again. These headphones do sound great, are comfortable, resolve nicely, and despite what many reviews online might say about the weight, I did not have an issue with how heavy they are. I was wearing these all day. I think the materials are great. I'd love these if they still worked. I'll amend this review with the resolution if there is one. For now, huge thumbs down for World Wide Stereo, Audeze and LCD-2 Closed Back headphones. ... show more

    • What I was looking for.
I have evolved to listening to all my music through headphones now because I live in an apt. complex. This way I don't annoy the neighbors. These headphones are exactly what I was looking for. They actually sound better than the rack system I was using before. Great, crisp and deep bass without coloring the mids and highs. I run them through a headphone amp/dac with audiophyle balanced after market cords. Loving them and would reccomend them to anyone wanting to hear seriously good audio. ... show more

    • Kickass Sound, but BassHeads beware
These are an incredible pair of headphones. Comfortable, currently being run through a Behringer Xenyx 10 Channel for amplification. They *are* very heavy, when it comes to headphones, but the headband almost makes the weight unnoticeable. I have large ears, and the pads completely encompass my ears, which is awesome. If you are looking for a bass-y listening experience, these are NOT the headphone for you. They are very flatly balanced, anything that's mixed well will come through well, though. They do not get shrill at higher volumes, and the sound quality is incredibly clear. ... show more

    • Audiophile sound with good isolation
If your environment is noisy or even just mildly so, these have come pretty close to some open backs I've had. Tried on a wide variety of music from Tidal master tracks on a JDSLabs Atom DAC/Amp combo. Also great for gaming, but if you're after precision, open backed headphones are still the better option if you have a quiet environment. Fairly comfortable but they are heavy to the point where I can feel a little fatigue on the neck, so a point off there. ... show more

    • Heavy as bricks!
I was excited to get these and try them out. However, as soon as I put them on, it felt like I was wearing 2 bricks on my head! Not only were they extremely heavy, they just fell off of my head with no clamping force what so ever. I didn't even listen to them and sent them back immediately.

This headphones are great however, they are warm. What i mean by that is they favor the mid to low range so higher noises could be a tad higher. But these are the headphones to buy under 1000.
