I have a path to my neighbor's house, in the back, and it is very dark there. Last week someone tripped on a paver and fell and I decided to light everything up. There are two lights, each with its own photovoltaic panel that charges the battery during the day. Because mine will only be on when someone walks by, I am not too concerned about the amount of light it gets for charging, but if it was expected to be on a lot I would be certain it stayed in direct sunlight as long as possible. These are not what I would call sturdy - they're adequate, but for the price I think they're good value. They are very easily attached - just screw in a couple of screws into the attach plate, attach the light or photo cell, and you're done. The cell has about six feet of cord attached, (it can be separated to make installing easier) and you can have the light in the shade and still have the cell in the sunlight - that's what I did. My only concern is the sensitivity of the motion detector. I felt like I had to almost be right up on it before it would light, but I am considering changing the angle so the light and motion detector will point at where the people would walk - that might turn it on sooner. Irrespective, when that light comes on, you can see everything very very clearly - it's an LED display and the light is very bright and cool - unlike floods - this light illuminates everything. There are different settings for the light - always on even during the day (when someone walks past) or it can be set to start flashing to get attention - when it starts flashing, you won't miss this light! I can't say about weather durability - everything appears to be sealed properly - the connections for the wiring are tightly sealed, so I don't expect rain would be an issue - and did I say this thing is bright? Yes - it really is. And there are two in the set, so I will probably put the other one on the other end of the shed and light the whole way. These are bright, they appear to be weather resistant, and I recommend them. ... show more

Why I was looking for a product like this: At my jobsite there's an outdoor area where I bring trash/recycle bins out everyday but the electrical power burnt so the outdoor lights no longer work and it's dark except for some nearby street lights. Our maintenance guys know about the problem but haven't come out in the last year to fix the problem so I decided to put in my own lighting for my safety. Product overview: The overall product is small. As you can see in my picture, I've laid the sensor and lighting device side to side against a full size keyboard and it covers about 80% of the space. The wiring between the photocell and lighting device is just shy of 6 feet (1.823 meters) so you have room to find placement between the lighting portion and photocell. Similar to other solar panel devices, you need to have good direct sunlight on the photocell all day to get the batteries charged and last through the night. There are 3 lighting options to choose from: 1) Always on in dimmer mode until motion is detected before it goes on full bright 2) Full darkness until motion is detected before it goes on full brightness and stays on for ~60 seconds. 3) Full darkness until motion is detected and then flashes on/off at full brightness for ~35-40 seconds. Not exactly sure on the use case for setting #3. Installation parts and instructions are included in the item description so I won't repeat it here. For my use purpose, this product does what it says. Due to the overhang I have to install the light about 15 feet from the ground so it's higher than the optimal height listed. The motion sensor and light still works for my needs. The motion sensor covers a wide area and the light is very bright in the center and the coverage area of light that I deem visible covers around 30 feet (~9 meters) wide. With that being said, this and many other similar products are great for lighting very dark areas. For places where there are other nearby light sources the effectiveness is more narrowed and focused. I also do want to add for your consideration that with this and all other rechargeable battery devices, it would be interesting on the quality and how many cycles the batteries will last. This AUDERWIN solar motion light is just as bright as I expected. 2,600 lumen is not terribly bright, and I am very appreciative to see real numbers used rather than fake inflated numbers, so kudos! My reference for this are my numerous 1,000 lumen and 4,000 lumen flashlights, this solar light seems to sit right in the middle of them in terms of brightness. It is enough to light up a good portion of my deck and yard, although it is definitely a flood light and will not throw light very far. The motion sensor has not produced any false positives that I've witnessed, and it has worked every single time a person walks pass it (I have it mounted on the eve about 4 foot about my head). The 4 modes it has is pretty neat, but really just the simply on/off was all I was looking for, and thankfully it does that. The solar panel is kind of weird. It has a matte finish, whereas I'm use to glossy shiny finished on solar panels. Whatever, it doesn't seem to affect performance as I would have surely depleted the battery by now, but it stays charged. Have not had an issue with the battery being dead. It seems they expect you to mount it using screws.. there is no alternative. I used double sided tape to mount it, and it has yet to fall. The mounting hardware does not support tape in such a manner though, as there is not a flat surface to stick it to (all kinds of grooves), so its just barely hanging in there, but it is so lightweight it isn't a problem.
