My first laser engraver and having watched a lot of YouTube Videos I was able to get this working with relative ease on my first day. One hickup was the fan it stopped working, on the great side, Atomstack within hours is sending me another fan so do not worry about customer service. I got this for my baits and as you can see it engraves wonderfully on my baits. I would recommend this and the enclosure is a MUST! Engraving does smoke up a lot. ... show more

I saw this engraver, which I knew Hubby would enjoy. He and grandson-in-law enjoy working on many projects together, and here is the result: The Atomstack A12 pro has been a great 1st laser engraver. The unit was packaged very well and instructions for installation and setup were simple and straightforward. It is nice that the engraver frame and motor housing is preconstructed and doesn't require any adjustments out of the box. Unboxing and setup took less than an hour and without any calibration the laser worked well. After calibrating the X and Y axis it now cuts with great precision, a 150mm square had a variance of only .01mm. The laser enclosure comes with the air hoses to connect an air assist pump but does not include the pump. I would recommend getting one as it will help with overburn and yellowing around where the laser is cutting. The Safety features on the laser are helpful as well. The exhaust fan works and vents most of the fumes out of the room while in operation. I am using the laser with Lightburn software which has no issues connecting to the engraver. My only issue with this unit is that it has wifi but the wifi compatibility doesn't work with Lightburn so you have to connect your engraver to your pc via USB. (Images attached is a speed/power scale and was done without air assist AND an ornament lovingly made). ... show more

The AtomStack A12 Ultra is an excellent diode-based 455nm laser cutter for beginners and experienced hobbyists alike. It came packaged in mostly assembled pieces, with the provided instruction booklet clearly explaining how to assemble them. It took about an hour to fully assemble (including the enclosure), and after installing the proper driver, I was able to connect the laser to LightBurn. From Lightburn, I was able to immediately start running some material tests, and within half an hour I had a starting point from which I was able to cut & engrave on a variety of materials ranging from basswood, paper, anodized aluminum, and acrylic. I will continue tuning the power and speed settings, but compared to a previous 10W system I have used, this AtomStack was considerably easier to use. The fan included in the enclosure does a great job venting the fumes through the included hose and out a window, so there were no strong odors. There's also a camera included on the enclosure, which is useful to watch the job in action. I did attach an air assist pump separately, which was easy to do with the tubing port on the unit & the included tubing for the laser head. The enclosure also provides a great combination of visibility and safety, as it filters out the vast majority of stray laser light. I do still use safety glasses as a precaution, but the combination of shroud + enclosure + interlock brings the risk of accidental laser exposure down to negligible levels. I really appreciated that this A12 Atomstack ultra laser engraver was so easy to assemble. This is my 3rd laser engraver and this one was the easiest to assemble. There was really not much to assemble on the laser engraver part other than to add the backing plate for the laser module and then attach the laser module to the backing plate. The base on this laser engraver is thick and sturdy and I don't have to worry about it being squared up since the base comes fully assembled. It also feels more stable overall. The B3 enclosure was slightly time consuming to assemble but overall was easy enough and the directions were good. When I open the lid on the enclosure, the laser automatically stops and I can make adjustments to materials or the height of the laser as needed. The enclosure has quite a few capabilities but I had to make an additional purchase for a 24V power supply to run the exhaust system. The B3 enclosure came with the fan already installed and you just add the hose and a Y cord to the back but it did not come with the required 24V power supply to run it so I've already had to purchase the 24V power supply in order to actually use the exhaust feature. I ordered the power supply at the Atomstack site and they do offer free shipping. Secondly, there is a camera feature mounted on top of the enclosure but it also needs a power source that is not included. Basically, there are lots of great capabilities for this B3 enclosure if you have the extra parts or choose to order them. Air assist can be easily hooked to this laser engraver but that is also not included. For the engraving and cutting programs: I have used LaserGRBL in the past with my other laser engravers so I started there. I had a bit of difficulty getting this Atomstack laser engraver to connect to the LaserGRBL program and the difficulty lie with choosing the correct COMM port. I ended up choosing the correct one eventually, reloaded the LaserGRBL program, and then the laser engraver connected. I then commenced to designing, engraving, and cutting which all worked great! I also went to the Lightburn site and downloaded their 30 day trial version. The Lightburn program connected to the Atomstack laser engraver right away. This program is far more advanced and I was able to both engrave and cut the shapes with this program without ever having to reposition the material. The Lightburn program will automatically work with both the camera and the air assist. Both programs have advantages to them so it will depend on the project as to which one I will use at any given time. The A12 Atomstack laser engraver works really well for both cutting and engraving, there is plenty of space inside of the cabinet for larger projects, and the enclosure is sturdy and has multiple capabilities (exhaust, camera). The laser will stop when the lid is open on the enclosure which is a great feature. I was most disappointed with the really short USB cord they included for connecting the engraver to the computer. Way too short. I also had to make an additional purchase of a 24V power supply in order to use the built in exhaust system. The main power cord is plenty long enough. The locking system on the laser engraver is a nice feature but is not really needed in my situation. Overall, this Atomstack laser engraver works very well for both engraving and cutting and will be used frequently, particularly once I have the full range of built-in features powered up. ... show more
