Description

The TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 features a new all-metal shroud houses three powerful axial-tech fans that utilize durable dual ball fan bearings. Anyone in the market for a high-end GPU this fall and winter will agree that the shopping experience has been frustrating at best. That's a true first-world problem and trivial in the grand scheme of life, so we should all count our blessings before down-rating a product because of its scarcity. After plugging away for weeks using one of the Discord stock-checker services, I finally got one of these from Amazon at MSRP. I'd really been aiming for a 3080 or 6800 XT, but got impatient enough that the 3090 actually in my cart (!!) was irresistible. Three weeks in, I have absolutely no regrets. The RTX 3080 is a far better value proposition if you can find one at MSRP, and the ASUS TUF Gaming version is physically almost identical (visually indistinguishable) from this 3090. That being said, I do take some comfort in knowing that with 24GB of VRAM this GPU will not need upgrading for several years. This card is beautifully built, fast, cool and quiet. I have not pushed its limits, but a modest overclock (on top of the factory OC) of core and memory clock speeds can be easily accomplished with no significant increase in temperature or fan noise. Serious overclockers should look elsewhere (and spend even more for ROG STRIX, Aorus Extreme, etc.) because the TUF 3090 is BIOS-limited to 107% of stock power, or 375 watts. Top of the line build quality for the Asus "Budget" TUF Brand. This card runs cool, looks sleek, feels extremely durable, and uses high quality MOSFET and parts too. In comparison to the whole debacle with cheaper MOSFETs with the other budget friendly brands from other manufacturers, ASUS fortunately stuck with their guns and stayed with higher quality components, despite this being the "cheaper" option in their lineup. When running this card in OC Mode and using their Asus GPU Tweak II to enhance the overclock, this card ran at max 70C and continued to keep a steady clock above 1770MHZ as advertised. I am sure there is a little bit more headroom that can be done if you manually overclock and fiddle with the settings which goes to show the quality of the card. If you are considering buying an RTX 3090 then you are already aware of the horrendous performance per dollar in comparison to the RTX 3080 when it comes to gaming workloads specifically. However, if you are going to buy one, you were already aware of that. But it still makes sense to try and get the most out of your money and in this case if you are looking for a sleek, high quality, and well performing card then this one is definitely a top contender. As of this review, the exemption of GPU's from the tariffs in China has just expired, and thus GPUs are now seeing a massive increase in price from 8 - 25%. This card retailed for $1599.99 prior to the tariffs exemption, now they are retailing on Asus' site for $1839.99. Unfortunately, this has applied to all other manufacturers as far as I am aware and really makes purchasing the RTX 3090 for gaming workloads specifically an even harder buy. Of course this card is a good value for workstation use in comparison to last gens Titan RTX but again, with non-existent stock and now tariffs on top of this, I wish you best of luck in procuring one until demand is finally met. ... show more

I caved and bought the 3090 direct from Amazon because I don't feel that the stock issues will be resolved anytime soon and if I'm going to spend over1500 on a gpu it will be on a 3090 and not for a 3080 from a scalper. Peformance - obsurd...runs everything max @1440p over 150 fps. Cyberpunk runs at 80-90 with everything on and quality dlss. Paired with a 5800x I am not seeing the GPU usage drop below 96% on demanding titles @ 2560 x 1080 as well as 1440p. (I switch between two different monitors). I would only recommend this if you have the savings and can't wait for a 3080. The build quality is great and the subtle rgb is nice but the software is junk as usual with Asus. ... show more

I was able to mine bit-coin, play Conan Exiles with max settings, and watch 4K videos all at the same time on 3 different monitors without a problem or delay. Still have yet to come close to using all the video memory at once. Love this video card. More than 2.5 times the mining performance of the RTX 3080 10GB. ... show more

Mother board unable to detect gpu - no hdmi output - tried 3 tested good hdmi cables and a two different good working monitors - Data Link worked - made over four calls to Asus tech support - final outcome was gpu was defective - options were to get a RMA and send defective gpu in for service - could take two weeks or more to get gpu returned - could take just as long to get a refurbished gpu - so I opted to send it back to seller - I've ordered another Asus RTX 3090 Tuf from StockX - the only difference is it cannot be returned to seller and I'll have to deal with Asus fixing it - I'm crossing my fingers hoping that I'll get a good gpu this time - upon researching the web blogs it seems that this is a common problem with Asus gpus and many people have had to send the gpu back multiple times and pay for shipping - I need this particular gpu for video editing primarily or else I would get a much lessor gpu if it were for gaming- I was very disappointed when I figured out that the hdmi wasn't working but the Data Link was - and when I noticed the green boot qled constantly on the z690 pro creator board - this is a system I built to exact specifications as Tech Notice on YT and he had no issues - I'm using two Kingston DDR5 32's - Kingstons compatibility shows they are compatible with the 13600 and z690 - the qleds showed no problem with cpu, ram, or mb - all rgb's lit up on the Phatech liquid 360 artic cpu cooler - Kingston ddr5 - I could have installed windows 11 using the D Link but decided I want to make sure that there wasn't a mb issue - according to Asus tech from 1 tier support all the way up its the gpu ... show more
