  • Very Strong Laptop
CPU: 2024 Model
The storage capacity is good, along with the RAM capacity. The graphics card is great as well. The laptop has a great build, as it's made out of metal and has pretty high quality parts for its price point. The laptop is also good at staying cool with its 3 fan system and is fairly bright, even with an antiglare monitor. The i9 is very fast, as it has 8 performance cores and 16 effeciency cores (24-cores total). 16 GB RAM is nice at not causing freezing for most tasks, but upgrading the RAM is suggested if you wish to use this for gaming. Upgrades are easy too, as both the SSD and the RAM are not soldered and click in and out of the laptop's motherboard. Plus, there are 2 SSD slots and 2 RAM slots, with 1 free SSD slot if you want to purchase an extra storage card to have additional storage on top of the 1 TB SSD that is provided. Overall, this choice is amazing if you want a quality gaming laptop at a reasonable price point. The only suggestion I would have for buyers is upgrading the RAM if using for heavy gaming. ... show more

  • Worth the little extra
CPU: 2024 Model
I bought this laptop after my Asus Zephysus failed and quit working one year after buying it from best buy. This is my third ROG. My first one from 2014 never failed me but in 2023 i figured it was time for an update. The Strix has none of the problems the Zephysus had. I have zero heat issues, it can play all the games i want it to (and they look great). It powers up fast and i have had zero issues with crashes or blue screens of death. It has been very reliable for every task i have need it for. I deploy quite often so the laptop is one of my few forms of entertainment. When im at home i can take it room to room to be with my family and use it. This is something you can't really do with a console. This was twice the price of my last laptop and the most expensive of the three ive owned, but to me it is worth the price. It has all the bells and whistles with led lighting around the base and keyboard if you care about that. The biggest plus for me though was that it is user friendly. I prefer the NVIDIA interface to the AMD and the asus apps. I am not the most technological and just want the games a buy to play the best on the computer i have. If you are trying to choose between ASUS ROG products just go ahead and pull the trigger on this one, you wont regret it. Don't forget to add the Amazon warranty, better to have it and not need it and all that. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted (so far)
CPU: 2023 Model
Exactly what I wanted so far. Wanted something sturdy, reliable, and fast to replace my old dell G15. A lot of people have issues right out of the box and early on or with dead pixels. I haven’t had any of those issues. I’ve owned for almost a week and so far everything has been great, zero issues. Display looks great, sound is so so, performance is amazing. One thing is that the cpu temps are high because the i9 runs so hot, however you will not feel a thing because even when I was running 80C playing games, I couldn’t even feel it. Port selection is also awesome, I have everything I need. I do not use it on battery, so I cannot comment on that, however I have heard it’s not the best unless you specifically set it up for that. This thing should be able to handle basically any game you throw at it, you just might want to upgrade the ram so it’s on par with the other specs. I’m not sure if I’ll have issues in the near future, but so far the laptops been pretty perfect. NEED TO KNOWS FOR NEW BUYERS: 1: Manually select gpu only in nvidia control panel instead of integrated graphics which is on by default for whatever reason (haven’t had that happen for other laptops) 2: uninstall armory crate and install g-helper. Not only does this free up resources and battery life, g-helper is a much more lightweight and easy to use version of armory crate that has the same functionality (armory crate sucks) 3: You are buying a 13th gen i9 that runs very hot, UNDERVOLT! Download throttlestop (both this and g-helper are very safe and vetted don’t worry). Throttlestop and g helper are defaulted to not start on startup, so if you mess something up, just reboot and you should be fine. Search up what others did for their i9-13980HX and see what works for you. My undervolt did pretty amazing, going from constant 80C while playing an fps game, to only 60-65C mostly hovering between 61-63 while only taking a small performance hit(350-550 frames to 300-400). Not only will this help the longevity of the cpu, but your fans won’t be nearly as loud. And so far the high temps I’ve seen my gpu go up to undervolt or not, is 60C. ... show more

  • Good for FPS bad for MMO
CPU: 2023 Model
I gave camera 5 star and battery 5 star cause i didnt want to give it a bad shake. battery has always been plugged in and i havnt used the camera so i have no idea about those. So in FPs games COD/Tarkov/ and such where you have the graphics down so you have better frames. computer runs fine no issues. When you go into MMO's Like New World. All settings need to be on low FOV needs to be lowered. Your after market fan cooler needs to be on high. and you still constantly get lag it just cant handle Games like new world even on low settings. (works fine until your in big towns and such then you just lag all over) This computer cannot handle super high speed internet as well. So when i use my desktop witch is hard lined just like the lap top and do a speed test i get around 900mb-1.1 gb per sec. when i do it on the laptop witch is also hard lined i get about 30-50 mbps. I have owned this computer for a few months i bought it on prime day for 1400 and i wish i upgraded or went with something else or just didnt buy it in general lol. this does not really fit my needs for what i wanted/needed it to do unfortunately. All in all the computer does work and seems fine for FPS games just not MMOs or anything you really want to use graphics on. I do have a thunderbolt running to my monitor witch is a 1440 240refresh rate 1ms and i have tried it without the monitor on the little laptop screen (witch sucks for gaming) and still have had the same lagging issues in cyberpunk and new world and such. Hope this helps. ... show more
