I have many many laptops over the years, mainly Dells, this is my first 'high-end' Laptop purchase. That being said, this is a purchase that is aimed towards individuals who enjoy PC gaming. If your looking to purchase a laptop that is more so for -light- office work, and your work does not require high amounts of RAM to run programs, please look else were. If you are looking to purchase a laptop that has a good amount of storage, fast RAM, and a solid processor continue reading then. Disclaimer: This review is written by someone that has little experience with the hardware aspects of computers. PROS: -More RAM means faster loads. When you boot the Laptop it loads up your log in screen after 10 seconds. -This model has 2 storage drives on it. One has the Operating System on it with around 350gigs-ish of space left. And a DATA drive which is empty with 500gig out of 500gigs on it. You can install and run games on either drive. DATA drive is pretty much a drag-n-drop drive. So you can install Steam or GOG Galaxy onto this drive and run both of the softwares from here. -Pretty light weight for how much power it has -Super easy to adjust the back light on the screen -Super easy to adjust the back light on the keyboard -Very comfortable for your wrists, when I lay my hands on the edge of the laptop my fingers easily reach the keys -Logitech M570 Wireless mouse works well with this machine, its pretty much plug and play. -HDMI port is plug in play, I plugged my laptop into my Sony BRAVIA 48" HDTV[Model: KDL48W600B] via HDMI and it displayed my screen instantly. It was awesome playing Witcher 3 on the TV while the laptop ran the game. -Xbox1 controller is compatible with this machine, pretty much plug-n-play. You WILL need USB micro cable to get it to work. -This machine will heat up noticeably and make a humming sound when you are playing a very graphics heavy game. This is normal, and as advertised the machine is noticeably quiet. The heat emitted from the machine while there is noticeable increase in heat, is not enough to harm the user nor do I personally find it uncomfortable when it is on my lap. It should be known though, that the in-take fan is on the left side towards the front facing you. And the exit fans are also on the left side towards the back of the machine where the screen sits. Always remember to keep these areas free of obstruction regardless so the machine has full air circulation. CONS: -Screen is relatively small, super nity picky considering you can use the HDMI out port into a HDTV for a bigger screen. -The Left Mouse/Right Mouse buttons are hidden under the large touch pad area, so the user needs to depress the lower sector of the touch pad to use the buttons which can be confusing. This is -good- for keeping out dust and food particles, but I am personally not a fan of having them hidden in such a spot. -Sadly the machine comes with software that nit picks you with ADs when you boot the machine up[see Special offers section, its those programs that bother you]. Thankfully you can uninstall these in the apps menu of your machine. -The USB and HDMI female ports-- at least on my model, have a lot of bite to the male ports I put in. What I mean is, it take a bit of wiggling to get the HDMI male into the female port on the laptop. Small and nit picky to comment on, however, this is something I am use to dealing with and believe the bite will ware out and be easier to plug into over time. Obviously, one purchasing this machine needs to take caution not to break the female ports out of frustration. It'll go in, just wiggle it in gently. IN CLOSING: 5/5 product. After having it for a few weeks I am a very happy customer. I believe this device to be well built and believe the price I paid for it to be justified for the speed and power it provides. So how do you really rate this laptop? Do I compare it to my previous laptop? I can't really compare it to other laptops in it's class as I don't sit around playing with computers. I read the specs and decided to buy this laptop. All the reviews I have found complained about the red key board lighting and the "cheap" feelings trac pad. First of all, the red keyboard lighting is nice, not for everyone, but I like it. The trac pad isn't textured like some trac pads I have used which makes it smooth to the touch. It's responsive and sturdy. But let's be honest here, this is a gaming laptop, who the heck uses the trac pad?! If you're gaming and using a trac pad, do yourself a favor and get a real gaming mouse. I've used this laptop for heavy graphical work in Photoshop as I am a graphic designer and it runs it with no problem in balanced power mode. I have only had to use High Performance mode to run the Dolphin Emulator for Gamecube. I've run Starcraft II at ULTRA graphics settings without issues so far (I have not played it online or in an intense battle with hundreds of characters on screen, but I don't think it will be an issue.) Diablo III looks good and I've run WOW at max settings. The HDD isn't solid state, however, this isn't a $1,300 laptop. Besides I'd rather the 1TB HDD over a 500 or less solid state drive. The screen is just so crisp. It is a pleasure to work on my graphical projects and photo editing because the screen is so clean and clear. Boot speed is pretty decent, I thought I would hate Win 10, but I'm actually loving it. All in all this laptop is the best computer I've owned from tower's to laptops. It doesn't get too loud either. Now if I did have any complaints it would be that there is no SD card slot. That's annoying since low end laptops come with them, and there is only 3 USB ports. How many USB ports do I need? Well I would have really liked 4, but you can't have everything at this price point. There has to be some give and take. The metal top case is nice, but the black finish on the key board definitely tells you when you have greasy hands, or any dirt for that matter to include sweat. Also, this is a laptop yes, but if you aren't in power save mode, don't use it on your lap. This baby can crank out some heat. As it should to keep the internals cool, after all it is for gaming and I know my PS4 gets hot. Since this is such a nice laptop I opted for the two year accidental coverage, just in case as I do have children and I do move this machine back and forth between the house and school. All in all I am very happy with this purchase and next time I am in the market for a laptop, I'm probably going to stick with Asus. ... show more
