    • A good well-made kit.
This is an impressive kit. I used it to remove two front wheel bearings, install two front wheel bearings, and install two front wheel hubs. Worked flawlessly and I only turned the screw using a 22" breaker bar and 1.25" socket. I also oiled the threads of the screw to be sure nothing would go wrong. I have an impact wrench, but decided to use this kit with hand tools alone. The smallest die in the kit does not have a hole! I called the company because without a hole, you cannot use the screw. They explained this piece can be tapped with a hammer to get things started. There's also a guide book included where you can look up your car and it will tell you exactly which dies to use for each kind of job. I have a 2011 Hyundai Tucson but it's not listed in the book. The company explained it is because the particular car was not tested. For the purposes of this tool the listing for a 2010 Tucson was close enough. ... show more

    • Shockingly good value in this kit
First I'd like to preference by saying that press-in wheel bearings are not a job for a novice. It can be a little more tricky than you think. Watch a few YouTube videos and make sure you're up to the job before you pull the pin on this kit. As far as the kit goes, it will pay for itself in the first use. The value here is shockingly good. The parts, forcing screw and case are all of better quality than you'd expect. I never used the forcing screw, but it's a 7/8 grade 8 bolt. If you can break that you need calm down a little. I used the plates and tubes in my press and they worked great. I've only got a 12 ton press but they held up fine. Edit: I've used this set about a dozen times now. If the bearing comes out the front of the knuckle, this set is worth it's weight in gold. It cuts the time to do the job in HALF if you can leave the knuckle in the car. If the bearing comes out the back, it's still very useful but it's easier to take the knuckle off the car. Make sure to grease the bolt and this set would last for years even in a professional shop. This is easily the best value I've found in an off brand tool. Edit: I've been using this kit pretty regularly for a couple years now. It's paid for itself many many times over. The value here is insane. It's made me a lot of money and has held up as well as what I would expect from tool truck brands. Just grease everything up and use your head and this has the potential to last a very long time. Edit: over three years with this tool and dozens of press in bearings. It works just as good as the day I bought it. I would pay 3x the cost of this from a tool truck and still not think twice. Excellent awesome product. Works well for replacing wheel bearings and hubs. Probably not the best option for professional (very frequent) use, but certainly a functional set and the right choice for me (occasional use). Don't be one of the guys on the internet installing wheel bearings with a BFH like a caveman. Spend $80 and save yourself a lot of trouble. ... show more

I figure buy the second bearing it is about paid for it's self , and when one needs doing the other side will be very shortly behind grease the threads , washers and you will need a 1 1/4 inch socket and wrench make sure you have those.

Needed to get a front wheel bearing on my car done, I figure the other won't be far behind so getting the tool made sense. The local parts places do have a loaner but this kit has more options and a stronger bolt then the other store's which would have required 250 deposit just to start with. This one helped me do the job in no time at all. When looking at videos on how to use these kinds of kits most required a 27mm socket for the bolt, this one required a 32mm and it is a big solid bolt. I made sure to grease the threads and added a bit of grease between the two washers so they would spin against each other easier. Finding a plate that fit wasn't any trouble with the wide variety they offer. The only negative I ran into was that the box this came in was seriously mishandled and the pin that holds it to the case broke off. I contacted Astro and not only did they get back to me within a couple hours but they're sending a new clip that has been updated with a metal pin. So the minor negative of the shipping, which they can't control, has been completely offset with great customer service and the awareness the company even cares enough to update even the cases when there's an obvious problem. Also don't be surprised when the post office kicks the box around, this thing is incredibly heavy as it is made from some really stout materials. Only thing that really surprises with this kit is that the HF is 25.00 more when it is on sale and it isn't as good a set. ... show more
